Has anyone ever used a Minelab GPX 5000 on a park searching for coins

I have a friend who attempted that and it was a short adventure for him. I doubt if he covered 10 square feet before he saw the lack of wisdom in that decision. As they say , the best lessons come from bad decisions.

    Today's heartbreaker....

It was high , almost zinc penny high which made me suspicious but I found another with the Deus 1 that ran high and it was genuine. Worst thing was , I stopped hunting with time to spare I was so pumped up :(

    Today's heartbreaker....

I had a similar experience a few months ago when I found this. Even has a golden hue to it but appears to be something called listrium or some such thing. High school ring and I did find the person's number listed on the inside but he never responded to a message. I'm still taking it to the...

    Anyone know what this is?

Possibly a large animal (mastadon?) turd that got fossilized and resulted in the outer and inner color difference. Be sure you wash you hands after handling;)

    Quarter haul today

No nickels would concern me a bit as that's where the really good stuff lies. I try to dig everything 1 number up and down from the solid nickel VDI even in the trashy areas and especially out in the interior part of soccer or football fields. I will occasionally try the dig everything method...

    Quarter haul today

They're not very shiny so probably been there for a while so I would guess the place doesn't get detected very often and there may be plenty more! A couple weeks ago I stumbled onto a spill with 20 quarters in an 8" circle , many were still shiny everywhere but the edges as if they were still...

(Want to sell) Sale on Used Detectors Before Going To %# &)

Editing a classified on this site is no small task and may not be possible at all. Only option I found was marking it "sold" and relisting it or making comments down here in the conversation area.

    Gold

It appears the slight silver alloy does make gold yellow but as the amount increase the color changes considerably. I found a class ring once that was marked 10k and was a little paler than the normal color and it read a 71 on the Deus1 which was quite high for gold. I normally ran with...

    Gold

Where are you getting the info on the color/alloy ratios? What you say is logical but my understanding , and it could certainly be wrong , is that an alloy of gold and silver makes the gold more yellow contrary to the logic and alloying gold with copper results in rose gold. Logically both...

    Deus1 vs. Legend?

Deus 1 has some interesting features that give it the edge for a reason. Enjoyed using mine even though the tones were too digital for my taste but found some good stuff with it. As mine got longer in the tooth the battery issues became a PITA , always needing charging at different times or all...

    Impact or Legend

From their own advertising , why pay more for less? I really don't understand the Impact still being offered although I have friends who feel it is a game changer for them , especially in trashy areas. Legend can be single frequency at nearly all the Impact frequencies and has the multi option...
