Looks like I will be getting a new dive detector...DEUS II

Hey Calabash, I really look forward to your review of the Deus II and its performance with your nail board and depth test garden. Lets see how well it smacks the coins!

    Nice Barber Quarter today

Dang that Barber is beautiful! Sidewalk tear outs are a great place to hunt, indeed. I recently found a beautiful IHP in near perfect condition near my home on a tear out hunt. I’m jut waiting for more sidewalks taken out.

What's your favorite all around Garrett

Owned a Freedom II+ from the late ‘80’s, GTA1000 from the 90’s, a GTI2500 early 2000, and now the Apex. The GTI2500 is a great coin machine, but heavy for this old man. I enjoy the Apex the most; it’s so light weight. Once learned, it’s a pretty good detector for hunting old homesites, or about...

Initial impressions and questions from a Newbie (using Ace Apex)

Hey RgnFn, Any detector will find junk along with desirable stuff.. It’s inevitable, and part of the process. A lot of times, YouTube hunters don’t show you the junk. But they dig it, too. That said, the Apex is really quite capable as a good all around detector. Sure there are better ones...

Lanyard on older Garrett's pin pointer

This worked fine for me. https://www.amazon.com/Keeper-Pointer-Detecting-Security-Lanyard/dp/B01N0TW4OP/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=the+keeper+pinpointer&qid=1631150570&sr=8-4

    Apex Software Version

When you power it on, the version number is flashed on the screen for a second or so. First, all the segments of the display activate, like a display test. Then, 1.28 would show a "28" like a VDI number. Whatever version you have will show a number like "24", "25", or "28". Hope this helps.

    Garrett Ace Apex

I have used an Apex since last Oct. I’ve not had these issues with my Apex. I use the wobble method to pinpoint all the time when there is trash around a possible target. I have the coil wire wrapped snugly around the shaft so there is no flopping around of the cable to induce chatter. I...

So what target has eluded your pouch after many yrs in the hobby...dont include gold pieces or morgan and peace dollars..

Gold coin. Never have found a gold coin outside of a seeded hunt. I’m gonna keep looking until I get to eternally stare at the inside of a pine box.

    Deepest coin with AT Pro

I used a Garrett GTI-2500. It was a great coin machine in non trashy areas. But it was like swinging a brick on a stick weight wise. I sent it back to Garrett for a complete overhaul and it came back like new as a GTI-2500 Pro. Sold it on EBay. I mulled over the ‘Nox 800 and read all that I...

    Deepest coin with AT Pro

I hunt with an Apex, and the numbers are similar to the Apex/Viper coil combination. If the tones/target ID get jumpy and the detector indicates a deeper target, I just dig it. As you probably already know, the 5 x 8 coil is really helpful around iron infested sites. If you have access to and...

    Apex vs. AT Pro

Obviously, the 'Nox is in a different class than the Apex. But I think you would like the lighter weight of the Apex/Viper coil (2.5 lbs.), as well as the MS-3 wireless headphones. I know I do. The Raider coil is a bit heavier and I feel it's extra weight when swinging. The Apex gives you the...

    Found my oldest Indian today..

Nice IHP find. Something that old makes for a great day hunting!

    Thoughts on Garrett Apex

I have always liked Garrett Products since the 90's. Even when I felt that sometimes they were lagging in the industry. Their build quality has always been top-notch (except for the noodly handles of the early GTA1000). I owned enough of them over the years. After some research, I bought the...

Heads up on the new F75 detectors that I thought I'd share!

Maybe this or similar: https://www.seriousdetecting.com/product/detect-ed-alloy-arm-cuff/ Make sure it fits the shaft diameter. Shouldn’t affect your warranty. Keep the old cuff should you need to return the detector for service.

    Pro-Pointer AT Z-Lynk Thoughts

I have an older black Garrett Pro-Pointer and am considering getting the Pro-Pointer AT Z-Lynk to use with my Z-Lynk headphones. It still works weel, but I have a hard time hearing the black Pro-Pointer in noisy or windy areas, without temporarily taking one ear cup off my ear. Besides the...

    Extra coils for APEX

Thanks, Monte. I suspected that working it with the Ripper or similar, then something else, but thought it would be worth asking. I don't have any extra coils for the Apex, and the all of the finds are being given back to the owner, so best coil size selection is important from a monetary...

    Extra coils for APEX

Monte, since you have those coils on the Apex, I have a question that could use your expertise with the Apex and the various coils. I have a late 1800's spot that I spent a lot of time with the Apex equipped with the Viper coil I have dug a lot of targets from this site. I've dug a couple of...
