Saturday is for copper as well

Yeah I thought it was a finger ring until I saw the holes and I noticed them when I got home. It was deep and heavily oxidized (green) before I brushed it so it is quite old me thinks. Even at depth, the detector screamed when it hit it and the ID was a super solid 30-31. Man I wish these trees...

Saturday is for copper as well

I got up early this morning to get some detecting time while the weather is super nice. If last Saturday was a good silver day, this one was a very good copper one. Large cents are hard to find and I found two straight up and right beside one another (1886 and 1914). From memory I think its the...

The Equinox sniffs a couple goodies out for me today....

Great great shot of that merc. That photo does justice to my favorite silver coin.

    A Six Indian Head day

I wonder what that detector might be...

    First gold with Legend

I found a silver ring in the same style a few years back. It looks stunning in gold. In the photos It almost seems like white and gold or rose gold combined.

    First silver for the legend

    Very cool find !

    Where's Fisher ?

Couldn't have said it better. As much as I didn't want to, I jumped on the SMF bandwagon and I'm not about to jump off. If Fisher would bring out an SMF for a decent price and quality build, I'd probably sell what I have to get it. I loved their products and I still do and their customer service...

Great treasures. Lots of historically significant pieces there.

    Saturday is for silver

I know ! It's begging to be found and see the light of day again. :) I already mentioned in my previous posts that the obvious targets are all gone. I tend to find quarters in places where nobody tends to search. The last one I found was stuck into the roots of a tall tree. It was barely an...

    Saturday is for silver

Thanks. I've been using recovery speed 3 from the start. The place I have hunted ever since I've had the Nox is iron and bottle cap infested. I know that 2 or 1 should give me more stable ID's but maximum recovery speed is what I need in an area like this. It's worked great for me so far. I tend...

For the folks that go by the numbers...

Here our Canadian copper pennies can give me readings anywhere from 18 to an occasional 28 ! That's a huge range but depending on condition and ground they will read in the lower or higher range. I use tones mainly on this machine and look at the numbers only as an aid to identification.

    Saturday is for silver

My first hunt of 2022. The ground is still partially frozen and snow covers most of it but I had a few hours to spend and I could find many spots without snow and some of these spots were diggable. Given the fact that the conditions were very limiting I didn't think that I would find much but I...

    First opinion of Equinox 800

I agree. Get the Sabisch book.

Got a couple nice surprises yesterday...

Those mercury dimes make me so happy ! Stunning design.

    Signal Vanishing

I don't find visual target accuracy to be very good with the Nox as well. I listen for that 4th or 5th tone singing or chirping on the Nox and I know I have to stop and investigate even if it's choppy. Target ID has its use of course but it fluctuates more than I care for on the Nox.

Is Ft still in the detector business

It's been "next year" for years now. In high trash areas, I'm not going back to single frequency and I'm not alone. I've seen firsthand what multi freq could do for me in those areas after years of single freq. machines. Still, I'd rather have an FTP machine when it comes to build and customer...

    F19 coil ?

That 11DD is great but if you want the deeper targets in sand, those that some less capable detectors might have missed, you might want to get a bigger coil. I really like the G2+ or F19 coupled with the Detech Ultimate on the beach.

New vid talking about iron bias by Andy Sabisch

Super vid. Thanks for sharing it. Most of us already knew that there are no magic settings to get every good target out in any situation but this video makes it so very clear.

    It's been 13 years

I can tell you something. In my neck of the woods, Garrett's sell like hotcakes. Guys here mainly hunt with AT Pro's. I don't want to knock any Garrett machine because I've never tried one. All I can say is that the At Pro guys leave lots of stuff behind and my Equinox picks it all up. It picks...

Equinox number 4 breaks down..I show how to fix it...

It's not a malfunction at all. I think your Equinox is possessed. You ditching it for a Deus will only make it worse. :) I sure hope mine lasts longer than that.
