    D2 can slaw question

While I haven't tried it with the D2, large silver and copper always had a smooth tone with the D1 vs the distorted signal the can slaw gave. I will do more testing with the D2, but since I don't have an 8 Reale, maybe you can demonstrate how it has the same distorted overload signal like...

    Deus 2 and 4khz.

I would have to pull my D1 manual out and look at it, but as I remember, there is a notch that can be set in GB menu that will eliminate coke and hot rocks from being detected. Probably a similar setting in the D2, but once again, I'm not up on all the options. It's quite possible the factory...

    D2 can slaw question

UPDATE; I turned audio response to 7 from where I previously had it set at 5. Now the can slaw gives me the overload signal like the D1.

    D2 can slaw question

You asked which max frequency I ran around can slaw and I failed to answer except mention the programs I use. I run them at factory default frequencies. If I remember correctly, with the D1, it didn't matter which freq. I ran, large chunks of can slaw always gave me an overload signal. However...

    D2 can slaw question

I use PWM with 4 tones, same as the D1 that I'm used to and comfortable with. I haven't tried full tones around can slaw. I'm hunting a farm field that was a ghost town. So the cans are aluminum beer/soda cans that are crushed and shredded by the farm implements. They come in as what could be...

    D2 can slaw question

When I used the D1, I could always tell when I was over a large piece of can slaw because it gave an audio overload signal despite the VDI giving a good target number. The D2 doesn't overload on large can slaw but instead gives a nice tone as well a good target number. Do others here who have...

    Deus 2 or manticore?

You might consider the D1 if all you do is parks and schools in central Ohio. Under mild soil conditions, it's on par with the D2, but ~$400 cheaper with remote and headset. However, if you plan to visit saltwater beaches or areas with hot soil like Arizona, then you will be better off with the...

    Do You Ground Balance

I always GB slightly positive. It reduces iron falsing caused by rapid movement over the ground while detecting. If you move slow, then you probably better off zeroing your GB.

    Coil charging clip replacement?

I put a metal coil spring on my clip in place of the broken plastic spring and it worked well for a couple years until one wing broke away from the charging body. I no longer have it else I would post a photo. You can probably use hot glue to hold the spring in place where the plastic spring...

    Deus 2 coil size question

Agree with this. The only thing you need to concern yourself is if the physical size of the 11" is going to hinder you in the areas you hunt.

    Loving the deus 2

I've had 6 or 7 detectors through the years, (Tesoro, Whites, Minelab, XP detectors). Only 2 that paid for themselves, Tesoro Vaquero and the Deus 1. The Deus 2 would probably pay for itself if I detected as much. I've made some cool finds since I've gotten it, but I don't get out much these...

    Found a Gold necklace today

Nice find! Good on you for not notching that range of TID. I would have that range notched except on the beach or prospecting.

XP Deus 2 coils 11 inch or 13 inch preferred

That would be a 2" more coverage tip-to-toe. Great if you want to cover more area in less time without sacrificing depth. But horrible if you are covering furrowed fields or rough terrain. The 9" coil is tops for those areas IMO.

XP Deus 2 coils 11 inch or 13 inch preferred

Have you been able to actually compare the 13x11 with the 11 round? I would be interested to hear your thoughts. Theoretically, it should be equivalent to the detection depth of a 12" coil, but like I said before, that's not my experience with other detectors.

XP Deus 2 coils 11 inch or 13 inch preferred

I could be wrong on the Deus, but in my experience with elliptical coils, the 13" (13"x11") will get a wider sweep but not necessarily greater depth than the narrowest side (11"). Good for quickly covering more ground, but not necessarily going to find deeper targets than the lighter 11" coil...

    Banning of metal detecting

This! I'm a witness to my plugs being removed over night by an unknown critter (guessing groundhog or skunk) at a property I was detecting over a couple weeks' time. Not sure why they do it, but it does happen.

Can Dogs hear our metal detectors ?

I was reminded that electronic components as well as the coil windings do oscillate (vibrate) when in operation. That in turn could produce a low-level whine that a dog can hear but humans can't. A good example of that is the old CRT TV's that often made an audible whine when in operation.

    Here it is

The nice thing about a 2-box over a PI with a large coil is that they will ignore small surface targets. While I wouldn't want to dig something 5-10ft., It would be good for a 2-3ft target in nail infested soil. Using one would require knowledge of typical cache locations around an old homestead...

Who's still swinging the original deus and orx?

Had I not impulse purchased the Deus 2, I would have just kept using my D1 as it is still just fine for the areas I detect. While the D2 does edge out the D1 on ID and depth, it doesn't pinpoint as accurately, and it tends to false much more in iron (multifrequency). If your hunting is parks...

Am I the first to post this???

This option was anticipated for the D1 around 8-10 years ago. I thought they gave up on it.
