    Bag seal blank?

Thanks for the reply. You're absolutely right. I decided to squeeze the end where the holes are located like one would with split shot, and a seam opened up on the other side.

    Bag seal blank?

Hi, I found this in an area that gives up pre-1900 artifacts. It's not a musket ball but might be an old-style fishing weight. I'm leaning toward a lead bag seal blank. I can feed a wire through the holes. Anybody seen one of these before?

    Are you using tekkna program?

Update: I worked a plowed field yesterday with the Tekkna program. I was fooled a couple times but that was because I couldn't sweep targets down in the furrow from 2 directions. I was rewarded with a burned-out flying eagle cent, an 1886 3-cent nickel and an 1881? shield nickel. The date on the...

    Are you using tekkna program?

So now that it's fall and the farmers have cleared the fields in Michigan, I decided to try the Tekkna program in the iron infested sites I've been hunting. I compared it to another program I was using and instantly preferred the Tekkna program. While it didn't detect targets that couldn't be...

    Detectors needing service…..

I've only owned a handful of detectors but none of them ever needed service. However, I had a black garret Pro-pointer that needed service. Bought a second while the first was in service and a year later, that one also needed service. Now I do have a habit of dropping my pinpointers on the...

    Making a custom screen cover

Not sure what detector you use, but for the Deus 1 and 2, I use a 3x5 PVC shrink wrap bag. Trim around the necessary areas and it's ready to go. The cover lasts many hunts before I feel the need to replace it. Pictured is the D2.

    Foreign coins

Never found Canadian silver in SE MI., however I have found a lot of Canadian in various denomination and sometimes find coins from Asia, middle east, and Mexico.

    Volume Control for Whites MXT

Go to https://www.geotech1.com/forums/forum Type in "MXT" and "volume" in the search bar. I found a couple posts there by people who have added volume. Hopefully that helps.

    Deus handbook??

On his website Sabischbooks.com, you will find a phone number at the bottom of the "About us" page. I'm sure he will be happy to tell you if he has anything in the works. IMO, you will glean more about the D2 reading posts and watching YT videos than you will get reading the D1 book.

    Deus handbook??

I have it. It is more specific to the D1 but there are some common setting options that would cross over. It's been a couple years since I read it. I will go over it and revisit your question.

Nokta Double Score 20 minute hunt 95 degrees

Not sure about the Lincoln cent, but I got a couple over the years that were stamped in a similar way as a novelty. One was Lincoln smoking a cigar. I can't remember what the second was.

Anyone tried this with their detectors

Any more on what the shaft is made of? The latest fad is carbon fiber which is electrically conductive. In itself it probably wouldn't be an issue, but it's possible the carbon fiber conductivity may act as an extension of the upper metal shaft.

Leaning heavily to a Deus 2.. and have a cool question..,

I can't speak for the D2, but for the D1 I have both 9 and 11 inch coils. All settings being equal, on a quarter, I got over 2 inches more depth with the 11" coil. I can't see why it wouldn't be the same for the D2. However, I've only got the 11" coil on that detector so I can't compare...

    Rookies or people not caring

I have a Tesoro I purchased some 30 years ago. Guess I should have checked the manual before making a blanket statement. Thanks to both of you for correcting me, it makes me happy I'm at least partially wrong on that point.

    Rookies or people not caring

Skunks don't leave the discarded metal trash they dug next to the hole. However, some nocturnal animals will re-dig a detectorist's plug overnight. Not sure why, maybe they smell something or think another animal buried food. I know this because I've had it done to me.

    Rookies or people not caring

I saw the same in a soccer park I frequent. Nothing infuriates me more than seeing the real potential of losing a site to detect. I've often wondered why detector mfg.'s never include instructions for proper target retrieval. After all, their industry relies on the availability of locations to...

Who’s using their d2 flat out?

This is just FYI. I can't speak to the Deus as I've never run my D1 or D2 on max sensitivity. I noticed on a couple older VLF detectors I owned in years past, that when I raised the sensitivity to max, they would pinpoint in a different location from a lower sensitivity setting. I'm sure the PP...

    Ring ID

Thanks for that info Rick, it does have the look of a bubble gum machine prize from that era. I will Google using that info to see if I can find more.

It seems to be something along those lines.

    Ring ID

Looking for help identifying this ring, it looks old. I found it in a soccer park that used to be a farm as far back as the 1870's, so it could have been dropped in the past couple years or lying there for a century. It appears to be silver dipped, but the metal underneath also looks to be...
