    We can dream...right?

My brother and I found this gold coin in our Grandmother's attic when we were very young. I'd love to find another now with my detector. HH. Matt

    Seen a first today...

For the first time in 3 years, today I saw another detectorist. He was at the tot-lot that I pass every day going to my spot with the piles of fill. I couldn't believe my eyes. I felt like talking to him but I was intimidated. He looked like he was dressed for playing golf and he drove a white...

Found Ultra Thin Wheat Cent Today.

Anyone have a clue about this? Diameter is fine. Worn a bit. Cant read date. Is it possible it is just heavily worn perfectly uniformly? Its about as thin as a normal potato chip...maybe half as thick as a dime. Just curious. Any answers appreciated. One of my first finds with my AT Pro. Thanks...

Thanks to Bart at Big Boys Hobbies

Got my AT Pro today. Only got out for an hour and had a blast. I'll be out for hours tomorrow. HH. Matt

    D'oh!

I missed UPS delivery of my new AT Pro yesterday. I wasn't home because I was out detecting LOL! How ironic. I'll sit home and wait today. HH. Matt

Hey! I just ordered from Bart.

Matthias here. Hello. Ive been detecting for just over 3 years. I use a White's DFX and a Minelab Sovereign GT. I have now just added the AT Pro to my line up. I'm psyched. I look forward to posting here. Any tips are more than welcome! Thanks for looking. HH. Matt

Quick exit from my detecting site.

Saturday I was detecting at my regular dirt pile spot. I decided to go over the back edge of the piles that where just flattened. The dirt was loose and the dog and I slid about 8 feet to the ground below. I started to detect the unspoiled forest ground as best I could with a 13" coil. It wasn't...

Found my first IH and oldest coin.

Yesterday was a good day for me. Not only did I find my first IH cent but my oldest coin so far dated 1864. My first pre-1900 coin. The coin is hardly readable and I couldn't photo it well. I was at my regular spot with all the dirt piles. The Boro front-end loader came by and leveled everything...

Anyone having detector problems due to the heat/humidity?

Just curious if this crazy weather is effecting out detectors. Anybody?

    My GT sounds like Nirvana...

It seems I must deplete the rechargeable battery by leaving the detector on until it is quiet before I can give a long/ overnight recharge. Even then the GT will only go 3-4 hours. Right now the GT is in my basement and I can still hear it...sounds like the band Nirvana. Any advice? Thank you...

I think I forgot how to use my detectors...

I have been on such a bad luck streak lately and its getting worse. Now I hardly even find pennies. Six hours yesterday and five hours today. Two detectors- Sovereign GT w/ 10" Tornado and DFX with 13" Detech Ultimate. Ive had these machines for three years and even tho I'm still learning Ive...

    Today's hunt 7/2/12

I'm still not finding the coins I desire. I know they are here. Today I was out for five hours and found clad, a small silver ear ring and this monster truck. The piles are lined up so deep I can't keep up searching them all. Hobby security I guess. Here are a few pics from today. HH. Matt

    Putting in my swing time...

Out again today, Sunday, in the hot temps. In this pic there used to be a dirt pile 4 feet high. Took me four hours but I got it down pretty far. A bunch of clad and a couple wheats is all I got. Oh well. Happy to be out swinging. HH. Matt

I'm guessing the heat is keeping many of us from detecting this weekend?

Not too bad here in NE PA. Mid 90's but low humidity. I spent fours hours out Saturday mostly in the shade. How are you all doing? Where are you and what kind of temps are you experiencing? Are you out detecting? I'll be out today unless the T-storms move in. Be safe. HH. Matt

    Steps in the right direction.

I have finally taken my Sun-Ray S-5 coil off my GT and put my 10" Tornado coil on. I have finally started taking the Sensitivity out of Auto and experimenting. I had such a difficult time PP with the Tornado. After so much time with the S-5 I am now starting to get it. Its time to truly utilize...

    Please remind me again...

When the GT rechargeable battery goes too weak to work properly either the threshold will spike up and/or will sound like a siren. This has been happening to me lately even after an overnight charge session. Thanks for your time. HH. Matt

    I've been cursed.

For the past two weeks I have found only zinc and copper pennies (no wheats) or been skunked no matter where I have hunted. Yesterday I had a job 55 miles away from home and I detected the small yard and once again only found pennies. As soon as I turned on my GT the threshold sounded like an...

I would respectfully like to say...

...this forum seems to be forced. IMHO most of the posts here belong in the general metal detecting forum. IMHO I do not feel there is a need for a forum outside the realm of metal detecting. I feel I have done my part having gone along with this forum doing my part to keep it rolling. It just...

I forgot how much fun BH detectors can be.

Hey there. Yesterday's weather here was on and off rain showers and lots of wind. Instead of taking one of my more expensive detectors out I took my BH Pioneer 505 with the 4" coil. Its been a while since Ive used this set-up. No spectacular finds but I had a great day out even in the rain. And...
