    Excalibur or CTX3030?

I just got a little windfall and the little woman approved a portion for a water machine. Can anyone with experience with both recommend one over the other? I would love to hear ideas about other machines as well, if I'm limiting myself in just considering those two. Thanks for your help!

Interesting test on gold with M6 and MX5

The more I use the MX5, the more I like it! But I couldn't see putting the old M6 out to pasture until I tested them both on some gold rings I had found earlier with the M6. In a nutshell, both did very well! I wouldn't say that one was better than the other in giving good indications of gold...

    Relic hunting vs. coin hunting

Ever since I started in this great hobby, I have heard people describing themselves and certain machines as EITHER relic hunters or coin hunters. Is the difference between the two mainly a matter of location as in schoolyards/parks vs. ghost towns/battle grounds or encampments? Or is it more...

    New Convert to the MX5

MX5 has done it again! I think it won over my granddaughter to our great hobby when we found 2 silver rings in about 3 hours time. She was tickled pink (We had to have a celebratory meal at KFC afterward!) Got to send it in to get the tones fixed though. Turning it off and back on works fine; I...

:hot: THE RNB BATTERY NOW AVAILABLE FOR M6/DFX/MXT/XLT!!!

My favorite feature on my Etrac is the RNB battery and now they have it for a lot of White's machines. YAHOO!!! (Now if they make one for the MX5, I may never buy another battery!!!)

Got to hear some interesting tones on the MX5 yesterday!

Yesterday (December 26), God gave us a beautiful afternoon. Mid 50s, plenty of sunshine. I took the opportunity to take my 8 year old granddaughter out metal detecting at the site where I dug my first gold ring (using the M6). While our finds were unremarkable ($4.35 in modern pocket change), I...

My biggest concern about the MX5

When the M6 came out, there was almost no "chatter" on the forums about it. I got one simply because I was looking for a change from my Garrett GTI2500. Then I discovered it was a coin and jewelry MONSTER. All the gold that others with other machines were leaving behind in the parks waited for...

Garrett AT Pro Package for sale

What I have here is a very lightly used Garrett AT Pro. I would guess about 8 hours of land hunting and about 10 hours of hunting in freshwater. I have had no issues at all with this detector. Simple fact is I need money for Christmas and I get almost no opportunities for hunting freshwater...

    Auvio 33-284 Wireless Earbuds

I love, love, LOVE these wireless earbuds! That's why, when I found out how great they worked, I went out and bought every one I could find locally (5). Gave one to a detecting buddy who lost them almost immediately!!! Kept one for use and the other 3 for backups since they are no longer made...

My first real hunt with the MX5 - observations

I had my first real opportunity to spend some real time in the field (parks) since getting the MX5. All I had really done up to this point has been air testing and some planted targets in my backyard. I spent the better part of 6 hours today checking out some local parks. Found about five bucks...

    Let's get this party started!!!

I don't know how much I'll be able to add to this forum once it gets rolling, but I would like to share pictures of three of my favorites. The crystal and the petrified wood are both from central New Mexico near a coal mine. I have no idea what kind of crystal it is, it just fascinated me with...

When they learn you metal detect, people always ask...

...what your most valuable find is! Once in a blue moon, someone will ask what your favorite find is. Someone just asked me that question yesterday (for the first time ever) - and I'm still thinking it over. Telling them the most valuable is pretty easy. Favorite - not so much. So I got to...

Couple of quick questions on MX5 (not in online manual)

Before I pull the trigger on this purchase, I gotta know - Will the lower rods I have for my M6 work? And Where is the headphone jack? Thanks

    No idea on this one...

Found near a cowboy camp. Numbers seem to have been chiseled in. Don't think they were part of the original mold. Any ideas as to what it might be? and if the number might actually be a date? Thanks,

Most exciting feature of the new MX5?

In my humble opinion, it HAS to be the two-tone feature! Let me explain why: Until a couple of years ago, the M6 was the detector that I used almost exclusively (AT Pro got me in the water a few times.) During that time, the M6 got me a whole lot of "firsts" - First trade token, first shield...
