    Saturday and Sundays finds.

That's not one of my brother's sites is it? 😁What detector are you using? I had to go to the Deus 1 about 8 years ago because the DFX I was swinging got too heavy. I had an OTJ accident that required having my neck fused. I should have had my lower back done but I didn't.

    Found A 1800s Rubber Button

Goodyear never made buttons but he did hold the patent for the rubber used to make them. The Berdan's Sharpshooter's button did have an eagle on it. Reproductions of the button were made for re-enactors so be careful if you come across one for sale. The fake button won't have any backmark. Here...

    Upgrade to the Deus 2?

I have been using my Deus 1, WS5 with the 11" X35 coil for 8 years now and am still on the same set of batteries. But, I am considering upgrading to the Deus 2. In the opinion of those using the Deus 2, is it a worthwhile upgrade?

That may have been my brother. He passed in October 2019. We were born and raised in Hagerstown. He stayed and I left when I joined the Navy. Here's a picture. Joe on the left and me on the right.

My luck is still holding out.

A friend was looking at the black glass button and noticed a design on it. I used my digital microscope to capture the image. It looks like a flower, maybe a dahlia.

My luck is still holding out.

Back in the day coinage was in short supply so any silver could be used as currency. Merchants went by weight on foreign coins and that is why people find cut reals. This is the second or third foreign coin to come from this site. I wonder where all the Yankee buttons came from. This is a house...

My luck is still holding out.

I went back to the same site that gave me the Republican Blues button and managed to pull a Dragoon button, small flower button, glass button, 1821 capped bust dime and a 1789 Real. Not too bad for a 3 hour hunt. All told this year has been one of the best I have had in almost 50 years of hunting!
