    Upper and Lower Shaft

I own one of the early 800s. Shaft was really wobbly. Called Minelab and they replaced it right away, no questions asked since it was a well known issue. The replacement shaft is rock solid. I know several 800 owners who have bought them in the last 2 years and their shafts are solid...

    Picked up a Nox 800

Follow Minelab's recommendation of starting in Park 1 and get to know the machine. When you're comfortable start experimenting with the other detect modes and settings. Pay attention to Global and Local settings. (Download and print out the manual). As to depth and recovery speed settings...

    Ground balance in the 90"s

You must ground balance over “quiet” ground, IE. ground with NO metal, hot rocks, etc. A reading of 93 indicates to me that you are ground balancing over metallic, etc. subsurface. Try manually setting your ground balance indication to something between 0 and 20 for example and see how you do...

    Minelab update

I went to the new version 3 for a few weeks. I like the iron bias F2 so using any mode other than multi you don't have any iron bias. Rules out 4kHz for me. Readings in 4kHz seemed off and not very stable. Depth readings with version were a mile off compared with version 2. I was finding...

    Charge Status LED Light

I read on one of the forums that a charger that provides 2 amps or more is highly recommended. Get a good one, not some cheap Chinese junker. Page 8 in the Equinox manual gives a typical charge time of 4 hours from flat to full charge using a 1.7 amp or greater charger. If your green charging...

Any Thoughts on using the 4 kHz Frequency

I found the same thing with nickels being ignored in 4 kHz. Quarters and dimes were OK.

    New Nox 800

I bought one of the first 800s sold in Feb. 2018. It had the wobbly shaft problem as did many of the first batch. Minelab quickly replaced the shaft, no problem. They were aware of the problem and any Nox you purchase today should not have that problem. The replacement shaft has no issues...

Looks like a new software update?

I recall that there was something Win 7 users had to do to get the update utility to work. It might be something like running it in Administrator mode or such. Search the forums and you should find the answer. I just found this from Johnny Salami on an old forum: ”Posted September 5, 2018 I...

    Waterproof headphones for Equinox 600?

Take a look at the L.S. Pelsos. Good, speaker type waterproof phones. Look for a piezo type headphone if you're going underwater.

    Equinox 800 Problem.

Make a video of it with your phone as it happens in case you need to prove your case for a replacement.

I have the Plugger CF shaft and use the stock EQX lower shaft with it and it works fine.

    Coil Ears

Thanks for the tip Donut. I also have the ear stiffeners and the milk jug spacers worked perfectly. They are the perfect thickness. Hit the rubber washers with a little silicone spray and I'm ready for the next outing.
