So tell me just what the heck happened today cuz I'm confused.

Which by the way really isnt a new condition for me. So I'm at an old farm house with my ACE 350 doin my thing and I get a real good hit, saying possibly silver, maybe a 50 cent piece and its at about 6-8". I pinpoint it and start diggin. I get down to about 6" in a grapefruit sized hole...

Maybe one of you can help ID this metal I dug today.

So I went back to the old farm house where I found the 1945 silver quarter a week or 2 ago and I dug this thing. It was about 5" deep and it was giving me a real good tone in the quarter to 1 dollar range up in the silver scale, so heck yeah I'm gonna dig it. Obviously is wasnt either of those...

Todays find kinda encapsuled the day with my daughter.

I was going to a 1927 era house and my 9 year old girl wanted to go and help, so off we go. The first find, right up close to the foundation was this, what I believe to be a Precious Moments watch. It was down about 4" which kinda surprised me, although I have no idea of the age of it. Along...

A question for you ACE 350 users.

I'm curious, at what point do you need to put in fresh batts? The manual says that low batts can be a problem, but it doesnt specify what LOW is. The scale has 4 bars, but what is considered low? Thanks. Ken.

Picked this up USED, hope I did ok.

Seen this Ace 350 about a month ago but didnt bite even though its the unit I was looking to purchase, anyway, decided if it was still there I was gonna do it. Best deal I could get was $200 for what you see. Dont know any history on it as this was in a pawn shop. Had to haggle and wheel & deal...

An old home site gave up some silver!!

Went to an old home site I was told about that hasnt been lived in for probably 20 years or more, pretty grown up so swingin was tough, but I did find the front walk that went out to an old road bed and right as I got to the end of the walk where it sloped down to the drive I got a good hit. The...

Went back to the "bottle pile" and found these...

Is there anyone here that knows bottles and can help me date these things? I mean, what am I looking for on the bottle that can help me tell how old? Is anyone seeing anything in this or my other bottle pile thread that looks like they are worth hanging on to? Anyway, the blus one was buried...

    Cobra Beach Magnet, any experiences/opinions?

I have been given yet another detector, a Cobra Beach Magnet. As I'm still new to this game I have little to no knowledge on detectors. Everything I've found in searches seem to make it out to be a decent piece, but I'd really like some first hand input on it. Thanks in advance. Ken.

A little "quick fix" for my Coinmaster 6000 Di/series 3

Well I'm starting to get the hang of this unit and I'm kinda liking it, except for a couple of things, 1.) the weight, which I cant do much about except condition my arm to deal with it, and 2.) As I swing it I'm always getting up against my body with the body of the unit and GEB and the DISC...

Questions about a large pile of bottles I stumbled on.

I was out hiking in what used to be a CCC Camp back in the 30's, hard to distinguish much, VERY grown up, but all the foundations are still in place, anyway, I'm on the outskirts of the camp and I found a large pile of whiskey and other bottles and I'm wondering if these have any value or if...

Finally, my first official hunt and I scored unexpected treasure!!

Some may remember when I joined a few weeks ago I was a guy who was really wanting to get into this hobby. I was given an old Whites Coinmaster 6000 Di/series 3 detector by my father in law, though he didnt even know if it worked or where it came from. Well, when I got it, all it had for power...

Could use some advice on how to buy when buying new equipment.

Hers my deal, been looking at buying a new detector, my choices are between the Garrett ACE 250 or 350 and the Whites Coinmaster Pro. Without using either, what I read here they seem to be on equal ground. What I would like comment on is NOT the detectors themselves, but how to buy. I've been in...

A ? for those familiar with Whites and Garretts.

I'm wondering if there is a Whites detector that is very similar to the Garrett's Ace 250 or 350 in both price and function/capability? Reason I ask is, I was about ready to pull the trigger on a Garrett but I'm really liking the excellent customer service being reported here on the forums about...

Looking for a basic education on coins please.

I have yet to dig up anything really, (recovering from surg) but I would like a basic education on coin finding and why you guys look for them. One thing I'd like to know is when you have dug up an old silver coin say, when speaking of value, what gives the coin value, the age, the fact that its...

Hip mount for the Coinmaster 6000/Di series 3, anyone have pix?

Well, I'm starting to like this series 3 I aquired, but this being my first detector, and me being 50, and recovering from rotator cuff surgery, I'm wanting to make this unit more user friendly, LOL. So, I keep hearing about some upgrades to make it easier to use i.e. hip mount, adding a forearm...

Are coils interchangable brand to brand?

Just curious if you could swap a coil from say a Garrett to a Whites and vice versa? Trying to get educated on detecting equipment and techniques. Thanks, Ken.

Need some info/experiences with this Whites detector

I was recently given a Whites Coinmaster 6000/Di series 3 that looks like new, but I know nothing about it. Can anyone here tell me what level of a detector this is and approx age? I'm probably not going to keep it unless it turns out to be a good outfit, its just got too many dials for this...

Newbie wanting to get his hands dirty.

Hello from Missouri. Well I didnt see a newbie forum, so, I'll just start right here. After many years of drag racing I'm ready to do something different (cheaper). Been toying with the idea of detecting for years, but I'm finally ready to dig and I have a few questions. First, my...
