    from kids to corn

I went out kiddy park hunting last night and corn field hunting this morning. Found two toy cars, eight quarters, six dimes and twenty one cents. The printing plate has a man presenting a cigar box to another guy. The Indian artifact could be a broken hide scraper or spear head or knife. The...

    BAD look for us!

While browsing the Internet I came across an advertisement for farmers insurance depicting a metal detectorist waving his detector over a sleeping sunbather and his gold necklass, then grabs the necklass and rips it off the man. A email to farmers ins. complaining of this is needed.

    corn field hunt

I went corn field hunting today. Found the frost at three inches making digging chunks out very difficult. Last year I found two large cents in this field. Today I struck my first silver in a 1853-O Seated Liberty Dime. Looks like the plow found it a few times but recuing these Ladies is still nice.

    close frost

I went searching today, found the frost very close to the surface. Very hard digging picking chunks out. I did rescue this Lady, 1853-O Seated Dime. Nice start for the new season FOM.

    The 2013 Hunt

Thanks Andrew and Larry for a great Club Hunt. Food was excellent Nancy and the weather aided us. Along with some good prizes I discovered $4.50 face silver, Wheat Cents, Indian Cents, Buffalo Nickels and Liberty Nickels rounded out my finds. The best was the friendship we shared.

    Good Morning

Went out this morning at 7am before the heat rise. I searched a home site dating around 1920. I found a toy lot that was 4-6 inches deep with a dense grass sod cover. Only one coin, a memorial cent dated 1974 was found. One cap pistol, one van, three trucks, four trailers and eight cars.

    swimming hole?

What do you guess if you detect a swimming beach and lake but only find quarters and square tabs? My guess would be a jewelry hunter. Most silver reads at cent/dime. Gold at nickel and below. I waded from a gradual shoreline to up to my neck in an area that has 30-40 kids and adults...

    Back 4 more

Took out my White's V3i to check the area for the fifth time. I did not expect to find much but I did get a little. Two more deep wheat cents, 1948-D and a 1928. A pocket knife at seven inch depth and some shallow clad. Three quarters and seven cents? Think masking. My final coil was a DD that...

    At 3

Went over the same area with my wife's detector, a White's Prism 6T. The soil conditions are a very hard packed clay for 50% of the area and easy digging dirt in the other. This is also right next to the overhead power lines. I maxed out with the Ace 250 at about 5-1/2 inch depth. Now I pealed...

    Back at it 2

Gave the Garrett Ace 250 one last chance, still hitting the 10% area, only one clad dime and cent plus a 1959-D Dime and a 1914 Buffalo Nickel. Now I will give my wife's detector a try.

    back at it

Went back for an hour, went over the same area more slowly knowing I left goodies. Rescued three wheat cents, clad was three quarters, one dime and thirteen cents. Also recovered a brass round Palmolive buy one-get one free soap bar token. All the clad is at two inch depth, all the silver and...

    Nice Day

Nice day and easy recovery dirt. Poked aroung and rescued three silver and eighteen wheat cents. 1957-D quarter, 1951 dime, 1944 dime and the oldest wheat cent was a 1915. Clad was one quarter, two dimes and twenty three cents. Got hungry so left for another day, only detected 10% of the...
