Pinpointing Accuracy? Not so much.. :rage:

Ok, Ive begun to notice something, not sure if its always been like this or if its something new, but when pinpointing now and again I'll sweep a solid hitting target, I'll x it out, just like everyone says to do, then I'll hit my pinpoint on the F5 get to the strongest sound, and I'll dig. And...

    Waterproof detectors

Not looking for ones to go diving with, looking for ones that I can set it down in the water while I bend over to recover a target, say 3 to 5 foot deep water. I'm not a diver, but in the summer heat I wouldnt be apposed to going into the shores of rivers and what not to do my work. Also dont...

I.e, if I plunge it into fresh water, will it nuke the coil? Are there places I should maybe apply some extra silicon sealant?

    Fustrating morning, sick F5?

Ok, so I went to a park today that I've hit several times in the past with the F5 and have never had a problem. I've hit it in all weather conditions, be it bright warm and sunny, to like today, dull and gloomy. As I was walking to the tot lot, my detector is going absolutely crazy, I figured it...

    Water proofing an F5

So I dont often go near sources of water when metal detecting, but there are a few places locally that I wouldnt mind dipping the coil into just to see whats there. I have two concerns on this. First, and I'm pretty sure I'm ok, is the standard coil on the F5 waterproof in that I can put the...

    Metal Detector for youngins

Hey all, My 9 year old son really wants to go metal detecting with me, and he does come along but I know what he really wants is to swing a detector of his own with me. I have my F5, which is a bit too bulky for him, and I also have a goldbug 2 which, lets face it, awesome detector but not...

    Notch or Disc?

Been reading through the forums and just had a thought, I usually run with my disc notching out fe, but dont go much higher than that, just up until FE goes away. Would it be better if I dropped my disc to 1 and actually notched FE out with the notch button?

    F5 Stock coil vs F5 11" DD

I know I've asked this before, and I know that I've gotten good responses before, but I need to ask it again and hear the opinions of those who have actually done side by side comparisons with these two coils. I'm trying to figure out just how much of a difference and in what way the difference...

    So frustrated...:ranting:

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I need to get this off my chest to my fellow detectorists. I live in Hillsboro Oregon and have been trying to enjoy this hobby for about a year now. I started out with a Bounty Hunter Tracker II, and have since moved up to a Fisher F5. My rant...

Finally something other than foil and penny's with the F5

Finally found something with the F5 other than foil and penny's and other trash. Was really starting to get discouraged that I wouldnt find much with this detector, guess it shows that I really just need to keep trying. Although, I almost didn't go for this signal because it was bouncing around...

    Shoutout to Mike Hillis

Hey Mike, since you seem to be the go to guy when it comes to anything F5 related, and since most of the posts I see in here are F70/75 related with a few smatterings of F5, I was wondering if you could consolidate all your tips and tricks and general knowledge into a manual of sorts for those...

    F5 Pinpointing

Hi all, two questions. First, take a look at the attached picture. When I'm doing pinpointing, where is the target going to be strongest? Is it at the end of the green line, or at the end of the red line? Second, I saw someone mention new software for the F5, how do I update it? Or do I have to...

    Oregonians?

Not sure where to post this, so I'll post it here. I live in Hillsboro Oregon, and from time to time, it gets lonely hunting. :) Anyone near me looking for a hunting buddy? That is, once this damned rain ceases and the ground is something a little less like chocolate pudding?
