    Beach hunting shoes

When I was hunting the Chesapeake bay and tributaries they got a little smelly until they dried out and every now and then would stink after drying, but a dose of Gear Aid Revivex Odor Eliminator (previously sold as McNett Mirazyme) or Sink the Stink Gear Deodorizer clears it up. Have not had...

    Beach hunting shoes

Pretty good. I wear socks in them to keep my toes from rubbing. I tried regular dive boots and got lots of sand and pebbles in them. With the NRS ATB wetshoes, with a lot of water movement some sand gets in but not a lot; the pebbles stay out. One big thing for me is they have pretty good arch...

Is the CZ properly ground balanced?

    Fisher CZ's still the King

Puzzling. Perhaps sweep speed? CZs like a relaxed sweep. Too fast and you miss targets. Settings? Headphones? A couple years ago with a silver ring at the beach that I found with the CZ6a (with the FZ12 coil on it) I had another beach hunter come up with his Equinox and he could not find a...

    Fisher CZ's still the King

The RTG travel scoop doesn't fold, it slides apart at the reinforced joint after removing a retaining screw. Strong joint that after each hunt in the water I need to make sure it comes apart and clean it or it can bind up and take a lot of work to get apart. I switched from a Lesche digger for...

    Fisher CZ's still the King

I've got the travel version of that RTG scoop. It is a back up most of the time and the one I take if we fly because it fits in the suitcase. It's four pounds. Since weight is important to you, get a scoop with a carbon fiber handle, you can easily cut a half pound off the weight of the scoop...

    Beach hunting shoes

Ive been using NRS ATB wetshoes and love them; however they discontinued them and I'm using aquaseal to prolong the life of the pair I have now until I find a good replacement. About a year ago saw a recommendation for Mares boots, but have not really looked at them yet. I see that NRS does have...

    Fisher CZ's still the King

Well, a 7.5 inch wide by 12 inch long scoop on a 54 inch long 1 3/8 inch diameter carbon fiber handle won't quite fit in my pocket.

    Fisher CZ's still the King

Pinpoint button is not used. It is the discrimination knob that gets turned from auto tune (motion all metal) to disc 0 (listen to tones including iron). Left hand carries the scoop and it is just not a feasible maneuver. Scoop gets in the way of any attempt to just flick the setting and the...

    Fisher CZ's still the King

For me and how I hunt with a CZ, hip mounting does not work. I run auto tune to find a target and flip to disc 0 when over the target to get more information about the target. If I hip mount it is very inconvenient to change the setting but when mounted on the shaft it is a very quick thumb flip...

    Fisher CZ's still the King

Not going to find anything with your stated requirements. F75 is 3.5 pounds as is a CZ5. The AQ LTD comes in at 4.2 pounds. The F75 and AQ LTD balance very well, which in my experience is more important than total weight. Fisher, like Teknetics and Bounty Hunter are owned by First Texas...

A Question for Beach Hunters using Minelab FBS (Safari)

Have not used that detector ... but, on virtually every beach I've hunted, I like a coil in the larger range, 11 inch is about perfect. Only exception would be if you are at a very rocky beach where you need to work around and between the rocks.

If Fisher would make a modern High end coin / relic detector???? Would you buy and what options would it need to have ??

I wish that were the case. The version that KellyCo is selling is the Limited version (LTD) ... and does not have fixes in it.

Noisy or chatterbox is not a description that fits any of the CZs,

If Fisher would make a modern High end coin / relic detector???? Would you buy and what options would it need to have ??

Water proof to at least ten feet. Take it out with no fear when it is raining and go wading at the beach into the cuts where jewelry likes to find it's way into. Issue might be price point; can First Texas deliver a product like that at a price point competitive with others (for example the Legend)?

    Fisher CZ's still the King

Most of the cz's out there are not water detectors. The CZ20 / CZ21 are water detectors; all the others are not water proof. The CZ20 / CZ21 are a lot heavier than the non-waterproof CZs.

    Fisher CZ's still the King

Yes. Found a 8 or 9 gram silver ring in the wet sand at a good 13 to 14 inches. After I took the first scoop of sand out, a guy with an Equinox came up to me to ask what I was finding. He could not tell there was a target there, nothing. Couple more scoops and we were looking at a silver ring...

    Weight comparison

Actual weight may not be the issue. It very well might be how the balance is changed by the coil more so than the added weight. Over the years I've made counter weights for some of my detectors because adding the counter weight, while increasing total weight, made it balance better and be much...

    Clearwater Beach Hunts

Finding the tent stakes is mostly on sand and not so much in cuts in the water ... on the sand, try circling the target and listening for modulation on the tone edges and distinct double blips. Those are give aways for iron. The bottle caps sound wider than good targets; but I still mostly dig...

    Two Hunts This Week

You are seeing more coins than I am right now. Was out today and there are a couple of areas where some cuts are starting to form. Bottoms of them are still soft ... hopefully some become hard bottoms soon. Good luck in Clearwater. Been about four years since wife and I were there. We just saw...
