Thank you. It was my honor. Hard to put a price on what I learned along the way, or the value I place on the friendships formed throughout the process.

It was the concentric coil that convinced me to work with Randy to campaign and pressure Minelab for another one or allow Coiltek to develop them. As a result, he got me in with Treavor & Natalie at Coiltek for the field testing of both the 6" and 15". It was quite a process, but well worth it...

The 6" Digger and the 15" 3kHz WOT populate my 705 85% of the time. Those 3kHz coils are worth every ounce of effort we put into their manufacture. And if you really want deep, learn to utilize "Prospector Mode" with that 3kHz coil. It will blow your mind!

I looked through my notes, and I can't find anything about serial numbers that's relevant to where they were made, only when they changed the firmware to make third party coils incompatible. Personally, I don't think it makes a lick of difference where it was made or assembled. Some do claim...

He winters on a gulf beach in Texas, and I'm casually trying to encourage him to get an X-Terra Pro and a sand scoop just for fun, but beach hunting just isn't his style....yet.

I'm in daily communication with him. He is well, but his knees pretty much ended his digging career and he's sold his detectors. I keep him up on new X-Terra info as it becomes available so we can discuss it. I'll let him know that you folks were asking about him.

I'm really disappointed that Minelab hung the honorable X-Terra name on this unit. It is the most basic machine, with only three tones, three volume levels, not rechargeable (needs batteries), 7 disc segments, and 5 sensitivity levels. And to top it off, it is EXCLUSIVELY available on Amazon...

Be sure to let us know how you get along with it.

    X-Terra Pro software update 1.0

It adds a "Continuous Auto Noise Cancel" feature. I believe it will be a welcome addition.

You hit on something that I should have mentioned. Your sweep speed shouldn't be any faster than with your older machines, and in fact maybe even slower. The faster recovery speed (reset time) is really only useful for better target separation. I run mine with the slowest recovery to achieve the...

    Help me understand why...

I've had my best luck running All Tones and going by audio only. I do my best to ignore the TID due to the instability, and pay attention to the nuances of the audio response. It's no secret that I'm not a huge fan of the expanded TID range with 4 digits in each target bin. If they cut it in...

What are the differences between the X-Terra Pro and the Elite?

    Actually, it's 5, 10, 15, or 8kHz counting Beach Mode.

What are the differences between the X-Terra Pro and the Elite?

The PRO is a selectable single frequency machine, and the Elite is Simultaneous Multi Frequency.....pretty much a slightly watered-down Nox.

    New Exterra Elite

Honestly, since I have a PRO, and still have a 705 & Explorer SE, I can't see any advantage to adding the ELITE to the stable. In fact, I'm disappointed that Minelab is keeping the ridiculously huge TID range that only contributes to ID instability. They should have cut it in half.

    Xterra wired phones

Turn down your SENS until it stabilizes. Typically, somewhere around 15 is good, but could require a little lower depending on your level of tolerance.

    Xterra wired phones

I don't know what the problem is. What I do know is that you need a stereo plug, and the volume controls for the speaker and headphones work independently.
