What is the best beep and dig machine(s) you have ever owned or still owned?

I've had some really good beep and dig units over the past 30+ yrs...ie. fisher x1236, whites coinmaster III ( small black box ) but the best I think was the tesoro silver saber umax with the troy s-9 coil attached to it.. That combo is probably scarcer then hens teeth today. DAMM, sure wish...

    V3i

Well odans maybe you'll get that wish. This new vortex maybe incorporates alot of the same features that the v3i had and maybe pushes the envelope a bit further.. I can't see a company ( any company ) bringing something new to the market that will just be mediocre at best. Just guessing a lot...

    updates

WOW.... your last sentence is some claim !! Were you ever an owner/hunter with the original explorer/exp 2 ? For me either of those 2 detectors were the beast of all beast for finding and Id'ing deep copper and silver coins. Not sure if the 600 has the potential to mirror those results, I...

    updates

you bought the xterra pro for water hunting ? are you reluctant to dunk the 800 for fear of leaking ? I too have not dunked mine. I bought the tony eisenhower water proof headphones to use with it. Supposedly the later run units for the 600/800 had addressed the leak problem... hmmm not...

    updates

Thanks Felix; I'll do a deeper dive into this update discussion in the coming days. Like yourself, to me the performance of the 600 was/is pretty damm good. I base that statement on alot of detecting at the OBX last fall. Tho the trip pretty much sucked and not much was found at all, I ran the...

    updates

you know that leads me to thinking :: when you update any of the units are you truly seeing any difference in operation/performance of the detector ? Just wondering. I have a 2 yr old nox 600, no idea what version it is don't know if there are any updates for the unit. Hell dont even know if...

    Vortex Bang for Buck

here's how I see this; If garrett produces a detector with legitament multi freq capability ( that transmit all at the same time ) ) that Id's correctly while punching deep into the ground and best of all truely works at a salt water beach and is waterproof to boot .... then they will have a...

Was there any mention to when shipments of the vortex units will begin arriving into dealers hands ??

Will authorized garrett dealers get first dibs on them ? Mark ( ohio )

    Opinions wanted

WOW !! thats tough to answer. For me ( JMHO ) I think the tesoro silver saber umax with a troy s-9 coil fit in this category perfectly. The golden umax was pretty damm good to. Coin pickin thru heavy iron areas was tesoros bread and butter. Not massively deep but good to about 8 inches in...

So, $599 for the top-o-the-line vortex. to me that sounds pretty reasonable....

RL... I'm guessing these were youtube vids you watched ? I am with you on this, I too don't need submenus to enhance the operation of the detector. That O'le minelab explorer was a good example of that..... but it sure was/is a beast at picking out silver at Deeeep depths.
