I've been purchasing silver ounces with my clad finds for quite some time. It may be time to part with them. Metal detecting is hobby that more than pays for itself. Best of luck and ... Happy Hunting! Blind Squirrel

I start i the Beach mode (works fine in the desert hahah). I make sure that I have Discrimination, filters, recovery, sensetivity, bottle cap reject on my "live search screen" so I can quickly adjust to the ground or my specific goals for the hunt. Best of luck and ... Happy Hunting! Blind Squirrel

Small park I’ve hit with D1,D2,Manticore hits more silver in a few hours !

Howdy Mark-- As usual you dug some excellent finds! Your hunt reminds me of an old oil-camp that I have hunted since the 1980's, I first hunted it with the Fisher 1260-x, then the White's Eagle 2 , then the White's SL 89 , then the White's XLT and the natural progression was the White's DFX...

White's Spectra V3i cherry picking gold rings.

Howdy Leatherneck-- In my normal hunting I accept negative 10 to positive 93 and have dug a few gold rings and chains. I don't specifically search for gold rings - I want it ALL hahaha. Now, if I'm on a "mission" to find a lost gold ring for someone, first I ask the person to describe the ring...

For all the guys and ( gals ) who have been detecting for a while ( like me almost 30 yrs ) what haven't you found yet.....

T-DUB, usually a nickel VDI's in the 18-22 range on the DFX or V3i. But the War Nickels, because of their composition, can VDI as high as 35. I rely mostly on the audio response. At a sight that yields wheat cents and or silver coins, I dig just about anything that gives a good audio response...

If I ever get back to my old relic sight I'd LOVE to find either a gold coin, a 3 cent silver, a seated half dime or a seated dollar. Best of luck and... Happy Hunting! Blind Squirrel

For all the guys and ( gals ) who have been detecting for a while ( like me almost 30 yrs ) what haven't you found yet.....

I've been lucky enough to dig a couple 3 cent nickels but not the 3 cent silver. The 3 cent nickels that I dug VDI'd in the 10-14 range (about the same as a .22 brass) on the DFX and V3i. Best of luck and... Happy Hunting! Blind Squirrel

    Memorial Day...

Howdy-- It's been a while since I've posted any finds. The reason for that is that I am on dialysis -4 days a week for about 13 - 14 hours each time. I'm still trying to live a "normal " life by still delivering Meals on Wheels and volunteering for Hospice. Recently my volunteer coordinater at...

things every detectorists should have with them...

Odenscoils-- I know that most advertised stun guns are high voltage - 100K to 1m volts. The 26,000 volt item may be out of production. On the box it's called "Pocket Guard" on the User Manual it is referred to as Pocket Electric Shocker 8504. I don't see an address or any contact information on...

things every detectorists should have with them...

Howdy Odenscoils-- I replied to Monkeys Uncle with one my experiences using the stun gun for insect bites. After that experience , I always take my stun gun with me on hunts. I have used it for ant bites several time with good results and one time on a relic hunt I reached in the hole for an...

things every detectorists should have with them...

Howdy Moneys Uncle-- Awhile ago, I was bitten by a spider on my finger. I didn't pay much attention to it until the next day when the pain was very intense. The tip of my finger was swollen and looked like I had a cherry tomatoe on the end of my finger. I was going on a relic hunting trip near...

things every detectorists should have with them...

This is an excellent thread including many well thought out suggestions. Thumbs up to the OP and those that participated in this thread. One item that I always bring with me on a hunt is my "Pocket Guard" which is a 26,000 volt stun gun. It's not to ward of 2 legged predetors, (I have tools for...

    Comet 100...

Howdy-- Here are some pictures of the Comet 100 made by White's for Fireball Electronics in about 1966. It was generously gifted to me by my friend Vikki. This detector means more to me than an historical relic of metal detecting history - it's a further connection to my friend Kenneth Little of...

    Kenneth Little of Fireball Electronics...

Howdy-- Recently, a friend told me that they inhearited an old metal detector. I was only too happy to check the detector out and see if it still worked or had any value. When I saw the detector, my eyes lit up. I knew that the Comet 100 was a classic detector that was sold by my dear friend...

I found hundreds of pounds in 6 months detecting 1 hour per day

Howdy jeffc-- I never made a living detecting but this hobby has more than paid for itself. I purchased silver ounces with my clad finds when silver was $4-$5 per ounce and I have always recycled copper, brass and lead. The recycling , alone, has paid for my detectors( and I run a V3i now) and...
