A few previous finds near the old fort…

Thanks guys… Here are the reverse pics that I couldn’t fit with the post. As well as a couple KG II’s with somewhat readable dates. It’s pretty rare to find coppers with dates at most of these fields but once in awhile you get lucky.

A few previous finds near the old fort…

Thought I would post a few of my better finds from the fort and some of the surrounding fields just this past winter and spring before the fields were planted. I retired back in 2020 and my wife’s retirement present to me was an upgrade from my Minelab Explorer II to the CTX 3030 that we...

Western & Eastern Treasures Magazine Back Issues

Irnwrkr is right if your son has a tablet you could do that. I fought the digital subscription for about a year after they stopped printing the magazine but they really didn’t give us any other option. Read on line or don’t read at all. Also on a side note sorry to hear about your dad (stepdad)...

    Colonial artifact ?

Possibly ? I’m trying to find a history professor from our local college who also did an archaeology dig at the site years earlier. He might be able to tell me for sure. Thanks for the response either way.

Western & Eastern Treasures Magazine Back Issues

If you only knew how happy your post just made my wife 😂 She has been telling me to get rid of some of these magazines for years but I have been hanging on to them anyway. I also have a few Lost Treasure magazines as you can see 😳 Anyway I had bought a subscription for my dad before he passed...

    Colonial artifact ?

Didn’t think about that but I cleaned out the attachment hole and it is threaded. I’m guessing that would make it Post Colonial ? Thanks again for the feedback.

    Colonial artifact ?

Thanks Jeff that sounds reasonable It’s just that I have never seen anything like it before. It rang up just like a King George copper as I have found some KG II’s in the same area so it is most likely copper or brass. There was also a trading post and an Indian settlement before the fort so I...

    Colonial artifact ?

Found this artifact where a French and Indian War fort sat in the 1750’s. I thought it was an arrowhead at first but obviously not after I cleaned it up. Any ideas on what it could be. Maybe some sort of bridal rosette was my thinking but how do you tell how old it is ?

    Washington Hatchet ?

Found this last week and as of yet gotten no guesses on it. It's small measuring 1"3/4 x 1". May have had a wooden handle on it also. Found in a neighborhood that dates back to mid 1700's so it's hard to date it. Found it in two pieces. Just thought it was an interesting piece remembering the...

    Washington Hatchet ?

Found this today and have never seen one before. I believe it may have had a wooden handle but not sure. Possibly a toy but I found it in a very old neighborhood. It measures 1"3/4 x 1". Our town dates back to 1767 so no clue how to date it. All I could think of was the old George Washington...

    Spanish half reale

Got out for the first time this year and found another piece of Spanish silver. Found it in a cornfield along the Juniata River where the original indian trail went through. Registered as penny on my Explorer II. Keep on diggin...

    My Favorite Find

I found this little Beauty last year in a practice field for baseball. I have maps of the area that go back to 1873 and there was nothing there at the time but we decided to detect the field any way. Sure am glad that we did. Between four of us we got about one dozen large cent, four Spanish...

    My oldest find

I've been hunting a lot of fields along the Juniata River the past few years and have come away with some good finds. My relic that I posted didn't turn out so good so I thought I would post my oldest find to gain back a little self respect. The 5 on the date is upside down and I was wondering...

Relic found near a 1750's Fort site ???

Posted this on the Relic site but since I'm usually reading the Minelab forum I thought maybe one of you would probably have at least a good guess. I found this near the site where a Fort from the 1750's stood. It measures 1 1/2" inches x 1" inch. It has teeth on the back which makes me think...

Relic found near 1750's Fort site ???

Found this near the site where a Fort from the 1750's stood. I'm not sure if this dates back to the colonial era but I have found buttons, musket balls and a few coins dating back that far. It has teeth on the back which makes me think that it was maybe attached to a belt or something but the...
