It's tough following the three silver spill,but.........

Rain canceled my beach hunt today after about half an hour and the retrieval of a few crusty modern coins. On the way back home the rain stopped so headed for a small out of the way Tot Lot I spotted a while back. I don't usually hunt Tot Lots as I really prefer hunting sites were I have more...

    Toltec II and new probe

I recently acquired a Garrett Pro-Pointer and wanted to get out and spend some time getting more familiar with it, so I grabbed my old Toltec II on the way out the door and beat feet for a fairly large park that like most has seen more than its share of detector

    Just because

I haven't been out much for various reasons but I still felt the urge to participate in the forum. Pictured is my detecting pouch showing a recent modification to accept the newest addition to my arsenal of detecting tools, a new Garrett Pro-Pointer. So far I've used the new probe for about...

    Treasure on my porch

Came home from a long day today and found my new Garrett Pro-Pointer had been delivered. YeeHa! :hot: No more wondering what it was I left behind because I couldn't locate it.:sadwalk: Sure sounds good anyway!:detecting: HH

    Persistence paid off again..

I'd been hunting a spot plagued with rusty bottle caps so I started running full disc. to knock them out, but for "just because I could" I notched nickels back in. The bottle caps were taken care of but with the nikels notched in I still ended up digging a few tabs. Then I got this target that...

    I asked and they said....

SURE! Have at it! The home was said to have been built in 1920. So far a couple of wheats have surfaced a 58 and 36, a tax token, dog tag and a recent military button. Not earth shaking finds but old enough that it should produce some silver.

A little quality time with my F-5. Plus silver. :wiggle:

Hey, that's what it says! Can you spot the crusty IH? I notched it so it would be easier to spot.

Could have and has been worse.....

I recently started hunting a local site and found it plaqued with old rust bottle caps. Looking at the dimpled surface of the ground, it was obvious the site had been heavily worked previously. My F-5 that I had with me unfortunately read almost every rusty cap as a solid *high coin* audibly...

Took my F-5 for a test run

Out of the blue while working a new site my F-5 started acting crazy, as in when I tried to pinpoint, it would start scrolling through the four audio tone settings?? After turning it off and on a few times and changing the batteries it still acted the same way?? I called Fisher and they...

    F5 coil question.....10" Elliptical - VS - 11" DD

I purchased my F5 with the 10" elliptical coil and now I'm considering purchasing the 11" DD coil in the never ending quest for more depth. The 11" DD coil is advertised as offering more depth in highly mineralized ground as well as better target separation over the 10" E-coil. My question is...

    Hit the beach today

The tide and weather were with me today so I gave a new area on the beach a go. Just to be different I'm posting most the targets dug. I managed to get away with the vast majority a targets being non-farrus.I dug a total of 6 iron nails.:clapping: If you look close you'll see my first, yes...

    Hit the beach today

Again the tide and weather were in my favor today so I hunted a section of beach that has apparently not been hunted heavily. There is a good amount of rusted iron and gravel *Conglomerate* GLOBS as I call them, so I assume that may be why it's not hunted much. My trusty old Toltec II worked...

    Another spoon question

I spent part of the morning going over some of my earlier finds from back in the day. These are four spoons that for one reason or the other I took a fancy to and held on to them. All came from the same site that had activity from about 1850 until 1920. Starting from the left, #1, is marked on...

    Persistence at the beach

There was a near minus tide yesterday so I spent a few hours on the beach with my trusty old Toltec II and it still gets the job done. Not shown are a 1900 IH and a barely identifiable V- nickel. There both presently soaking in olive oil in hopes of improving more of there detail. Over the years...

The lack of gas money has been keeping me on a short leash lately so I visited one of our local parks for a few hours last Monday. My F5 didn

    Been there, done it differently

For a few hours today I went over an area I'v hunted a few times previously, this time using my trusty Toltec II. Only this time, feeling a bit on the lazy side, I had the disc. set to knock out zinc's and anything below. Found the silver cross and chain in the same hole. Coin count was 2...

Another short hunt on the beach

My Grand son and I hit the beach again in the area of an old lumber mill not far from home. Again we came up short on the coins but he was tickled pink when came up with the blade-less pocket knife. From the handle shape it looks to have been an early two bladed trapper model. I did manage to...

Took my old reliable Toltec II out for a spin at a local park and found my first silver for the year. Well what can I say. I'ts a start.:wiggle:
