    Almost skunked...but not quite! :detecting:

Gerald and I got out today to another rental house - there seems to be no limit to the amount of rental houses available at any given time in the city that are worth hunting...usually if the house is newer than 1960 I won't hunt it but today's hunt took place at one built in 1938. We started out...

    First hunt of the year!

Got out this morning with Tabman, and we started at an older rental which happened to be unsuitable for hunting due to fill gravel being brought in at some point. Dad and his older brother Doug came along as well, and between the four of us there were 3 detectors swinging at once! After less...

    Final hunt for 2014

Went back to the abandoned house tonight for a couple hours only - the temp was dropping fast and the wind was starting to pick up so I kept it short. Ten feet away from where I found a silver dime last time I got a nice "91-92" signal...clear and crisp...and found the neat dolphin ring next to...

Sloppy hunt yields a 1943 copper penny!

Was in Knoxville on Sunday and decided to check out a site that recently had 4 houses demolished which dates back to about 1900. To my dismay, I learned that the four lots were scraped and then refilled with only the best red clay native to the region. Wasn't able to get any video since it...

I wasn't leaving WITHOUT a silver coin!!! :sleepy:

Another night hunt completed on a house built in 1949 that is currently bank owned. The ground was very soft and easy to work with, and this site had plenty of coins at the 6-8" depth range, unfortunately most of them were Memorials! I spent 4 hours total here, using 12 khz with the usual high...

A few goodies found a new home for Christmas

Made a trip into one of the older parts of the city today to a new-to-me corner-lot rental house. I only hunted the curb strips and front yard today and have saved hunting the backyard for another time!!! Rain came and went, which stopped me from filming the hunt in its entirety - seems like the...

This rental house didn't stand a chance...

Gerald (tabman) and I hit this new-to-us rental property built in 1954 - we weren't expecting the number and quality of targets that it would give up! Not 5 minutes after firing up our detectors, Gerald gets a nice high-toned signal with his AT Pro, and before digging it out; I scanned it with...

    Got a Compadre yesterday...

...and will be giving it as a gift to my nephew-in-law who has expressed some interest in detecting. As luck would have it, he lives directly behind our house in the same neighborhood so I'm sure he and I will be trying out the detector in his yard, and on some of my test garden targets. So now...

Dad's Christmas present for his CZ6

Just got this from Fleabay for dad's CZ6....He's been using the stock 8" coil for a long time, but there are places we hunt that he could benefit from either the larger or smaller coils! http://www.ebay.com/itm/131372782646?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Another night hunt less than a mile from home

Found a rental house built in 1940 that I spotted on the way to the post office last week, and decided to give the owner a call. The "For Rent" sign had been removed from the front yard, so this was a time-sensitive matter! The owner told me that he had already rented the house and that the...

    Last 3 Hunts...

Very nice coins! It's always important to listen to that inner voice on those weird targets and "dig it!" We are fortunate to be able to hunt comfortably this time of year...

A few good targets among the trash

Tonight I revisited a homesite that gave up a few Wheats and a silver Rosie on the first hunt. Set up a "trashy park" program with a lot of notching since there's a lot of can slaw present: 12 khz Reac 3 Silencer -1 Full tones TX 2 Disc 2.0 Sens 80 Notch 00-48 56-78...

 Dad and I scored some silver today

Got back to the old neighborhood today for about 6 hours of hunting at one of the famous rental houses that almost always produce silver! I wasn't ready for today's finds though, and Dad surprised me with a Merc at the end of the day after stating he didn't find any silver on this hunt! First...

 Dad and I scored some silver today

Got back to the old neighborhood and obtained permission to hunt one of the older homes built in 1947. It was supposed to be a sunny day but clouds built in and pretty much put a lid on that thought! Dad and I had about 6 hours of swing time before it got dark as we arrived around 10:00am. Both...

    Fun weeknight hunt

Got out to another homesite tonight not far from home for about three hours. Temps were in the upper 50s as we're about to get more rain tomorrow, so tonight was the best night in a while before the weekend gets here! Started off finding a lot of mangled aluminum - kind of like can slaw on...

    Yesterday's park and house hunt

So yesterday I spent some time in Knoxville visiting friends and managed to get out to a park that I've never hunted before. It is one of the oldest in the city, and I figured SOMETHING would come from it - turns out that it was a day of "twos"...ended up finding two Indian cents, two Wheats...

Thanksgiving Day Hunt yields a first...

Had the day off today and wanted to get out and make the most of it since it's business as usual tomorrow in the retail world. Got up at 530 and was on-site by 630...had until noon to hunt today. I researched the old maps of the area and started in an area that three structures stood about 150...

    Button ID

Went to Knoxville last weekend and hunted a park - found some clad and right at the end I got a sweet solid hit and out comes this button from about 4-5" deep. Looks like a steel backing while the front appears to be brass. Any ideas on age or use? Thanks guys!

Cold and blustery hunt yields silver!

Woke up this morning to a half-inch of snow on the grassy areas but the roadways were dry. On Mondays I usually get up around 530 or 600 and start hunting right at sunrise, but today I slacked and didn't get on-site until about 800. I was hoping the sun would come out and warm things up a bit...

    Toasty penny trifecta

Got out last night for a 2-hour hunt - not quite ready for the cold and the wind that will be reality for the next few months! I hit the fairgrounds and went back to an area that gave up a few Wheats and a Spencer round earlier this year. The ground was frosty, but still diggable. It felt good...
