    Wireless Headphones for Nox

Mkus, Were I you, I'd pay the $99 from the manufacturer. That way you're sure you're getting the real deal (no fakes), in perfect condition and with a warranty. Just the view from my foxhole...

    Wireless Headphones for Nox

I've been using the Quest headphones exclusively now for a couple of years and found them to be perfect for the Equinox: APTX, Low Latency, water resistant, clear, sufficiently loud and reliable...

    safari performance..

As a multi frequency detector the short answer is yes...it is at home on a salt water beach. Having said that, I'll say there are better machines available in my opinion. I had a Safari and sold it in favor of using my Excalibur II. I also have a CTX 3030 and an EQX 800. Just my opinion, I...

    Is it water safe?

Never had a leaking problem with my CTX with the new gasket. Never had a leaking problem with my Excal II if the gaskets were in good shape. Given the reports on the EQX, I consider my 800s as water resistant vs waterproof. If I want to go in the surf more than knee deep, I'll use my Excal...

What has been the # 1 beach & water detector

On the beach, Equinox; in the water, Excal II

Who uses this tool in your beach recovery

I would never think of using this for beach detecting. Too many good targets would never get picked up. Use a good sand scoop.

Any way to keep mineralized sand from getting inside 15"coil on nox?

I've found that sand can and will get in many places it shouldn't. The trouble is with regular coil covers, the sand can get in but there's no way for it to get out unless you remove the cover and flush it out. Here's what I've found works for me while detecting on the beach. I've simply...

    New saltwater Detector

I agree with OBN on this. I've used many different machines on the beach to include an ATX PI. Our sand here in Central Florida is not that mineralized that a PI is a necessity. Besides, I don't like digging down 18 inches for a bobbi pin. The EQX suits my needs very well. If I want to go...

    Has anyone ever c

It’s been my experience that no matter what you do, sand gets in where it shouldn’t be and there’s no way for it to get out! I’ve found that the best way for me to get the sand out is to drill holes in my cover and periodically swipe it a few times in the surf and the sand washes away. When I...

Another 50 tone vs. 5 tone question.

Over the years, I've tried numerous ways through a combination of VDI and tones to better identify targets that were under my coil. It didn't take long for me to discover that trying to cut the tone and VDI distinction too fine in an attempt to accurately identify targets was unproductive...

Florida Sun, sorry but I can’t answer that one.’ ;)

V3 Update Beach Report; My First Impressions

I ran multi as well and the stability and enhanced performance was evident there also. The level of sensitivity you can use is dependent on environmental conditions. If you can run at 25, conditions must be ideal...lucky you! Around saltwater and wet salt sand along a tourist beach, not so much.

V3 Update Beach Report; My First Impressions

I used the V3 update on Cocoa Beach last evening to see how it performed...I wasn’t disappointed! Let me begin by saying this wasn’t any kind of formalized test but merely initial impressions/observations based on my normal beach hunting routine. Any confirmation or dispute of what follows will...

    Nox 800 Mods

The perceived weight is lessened considerably thanks to the counterweight even if you don't use a harness But I do use a ProSwing 45 harness which allows me to let go of the EQX without laying it down on the ground and inspect my finds. You'll be very surprised with the ease of the swing adn...

    Nox 800 Mods

Just about everything I have, I've modified to some degree and my EQX is no different. I have a full detector rod by Steve...to include counterweight. A Herke Arm Cuff a Yerdigginit coil ear reinforcement A control box cover with the back cut out to expose the speaker vents...which prevents...

Scoop recommendation for mud bottom lake hunting.

When hunting a lake with tough clay like bottom, I use my Stealth 720. The pointed nose really cuts through the mud and clay.

Need First Time Beach Hunting Advice Please

I agree with Donut. In fresh water, I use either Park or Field...same as land hunting. Experiment with Park 1 for the beach and Field 1 in the water. Adjust according to local conditions....recovery speed, sensitivity and iron bias. Just the view from my foxhole....good luck

multifrequency vs single frequency for coins/silver only

There are numerous factors in determining if and how deep any detector can "see" a target....type of soil, mineraization and moisture level, orientation of the target in the soil, amount of corrosion and EMI just to name a few. Settings that work miracles in one area may not be effective in...

F2 iron bias settings and Recovery speed??

My hunting is 99% Florida beaches and in that environment, I've found it best to "dial in" my EQX 800 to suit the conditions relative to sensitivity, iron bias(f2) and recovery speed. I've had to modify the settings from one beach to another to achieve the most effective performance. I always...
