    Coiltek 6" Treasure seeker impressions

So, I actually won a contest that landed one of these in my lap! I've done some head to head testing with it against a 4.5 x 7 Excelerator and run it on several trashy filled hunts and thought I'd give my first imptressions. A little background first on my experience with small coils. My first...

    Four in one

Got this nice combo in one spot. Considering this is an old FL park the coins are a bit unusual. A 1938 Australian Half Penny, two 1932 Canadian Pennies and my favorite a 1944 silver United States of America / Filipinas 20 Centavos. Now the headscrather is how they got there? I love stuff like...

    Been gone a while but....

Hi folks, haven't been around much for close on a year but life can take you down some detours at times. Still been hunting though! Thought I'd share one of my better finds off the beach this year. Got it a week before our 32nd anniversary and of course it fits! She was happy, I was happy. Found...

    Coin, commemorative medallion?

A friend dug this last week but we can't find it in our searches. Any one got a reference or seen this particular one?? http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h119/elcruisr/IMG_20130414_131950_zps1f89275b.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h119/elcruisr/IMG_20130414_132004_zps5c203056.jpg

    Stumped so far

Was hunting in a spring fed old swimming hole yesterday. These spots are tough on some metals due to the minerals in the spring water. For instance I pulled ten wheaties that were about 1/2 normal thickness but you can still tell what they are. Got a no date buff nickel as well and some silver...

    A little more gold today

Funny thing was it was right were you'd expect it if thrown from the front porch af an old house across the road! No reports of a missing ring there either. While it's not a monster it's still 1.8 grams of 10K gold. Made my morning...

    Token ID help please

Trying to put a date to what I believe to be a cigarette pack token I found today. Both sides are the same. Found one on eBay but with no info on it. Haven't found any more yet. Was found in an area with lot's of stuff from the 1920's to 1940's. Any info appreciated...

    Two ring day

Park hunting some old parks today with the usual assortment of modern coins, junk, an oil lamp burner, ect. But doing a sidewalk edge hunt at the end of the day yielded these two sterling rings. The big one was 7" down and then 1" under an old sidewalk. The smaller one was 3" down next to a more...

    White gold today

Another one for my wife, it fits! 18 k white gold and 13 diamonds. Four inches deep and looks like it had been there quite a while. Also got two Wheaties a 1917 which ties for my oldest wheat penny and a 1940. That 1917 was 10" deep, the 1940 at about 6. I'm loving that Ultimate 13 coil, it...

    Old cosmetics compact

Silver isn't the only thing an E-Trac is good for! This one was a bit different. I ID'd it as a 1924 Langlois Cara Nome facial powder compact. Mirror inside is intact but cracked and the back got pushed in a bit. Still, I love finding stuff like this! Found under a big oak tree in an old park...

    An unusual silver, for here

Found this in a heavily hunted park the other day. It's an Australian 1943 three pence with a Denver mint mark. Info i can find says it's sterling silver. Seems during the war some of their coins were minted in the states and shipped over. Sure would love to know it's story. It made it half way...

    Volusia county FL parks

Volusia county parks now off limits. For those of you who hunt Volusia county the Parks director, Tim Baylie tbaylie@volusia.org, has decided detecting is and somehow has been for some time banned. This of course comes a bit of a shock to those of us who have been detecting there for quite...

    Sneaking out Thanksgiving morn...

Well, I escaped to the beach for two hours at low this morning. Found two very good coin lines in some low spots. No jewelry, sigh, but got some clad including a Franklin Pierce dollar (2010) and a 1944 D Wheatie. Now I have to behave and do the traditional thing, or as close as two boats with...

    Thank you Garrett service!

Had one of my pinpointers start acting crazy on me and sent it in for warranty repair. 10 days door to door, only two days in the shop. Thanks to Garrett service department for the rapid turnearound. They even put in a new battery and new housing. That's good service!

    Wife's anniversary present

So yesterday I managed to break the welds on my scoop, my GPS quit working and the camera in my cell phone gave up on life. After watching my hunting partner needing a dump truck to haul home (We'd been wading a salt water lagoon) his loot Mary and I got hungry and decided to go get something to...

    High speed hunting

One thing I love about my AT is how fast I can cover a modern area with it. Hit a crushed asphalt / dirt parking lot this morning for all of 1 1/4 hours with the 5x8 coil. Nothing deeper then 2" but flying! 41 coins, a .38 special case, a small nail up hanger (old one), and a base metal charm...

    Playing in the trash

I mean a lot of trash! After finding a 1917 Penny at this site previously Mary and I decided to start pulling some of the nails and trash off the top layers of soil near the entrance to see what we could find mixed in or below the heavy trash. Made a some finds and then went to an old park...
