Help trying to ID an old Garrett detector

G'day to everyone, For some reason unknown to me I am on a mission to try to find out what model of Garrett detector I might have used way back around 1980-1982 when I was about 14 years of age. I was in Australia at the time and my parents bought for me a high end (at the time) Garrett...

    Excaliber Pinpoint/Disc question:ausflag:

I finally did my own checks on the Pinpoint/DISC depth debate...this was after reading a lot of threads on the subject. Well to my surprise, I found that Pinpoint was about 20% deeper on all targets compared to DISC. For some reason, I thought DISC was deeper. Is there a chance that different...

    Some nice Excal gold

The smaller ring is 9kt white gold. The bigger ring is 18kt and weighs in at a staggering 16gms (half an ounce)....this is the biggest/heaviest gold ring that I have found so far. The guy must have huge fingers...it is way too big even for my thumb...:yikes: Regards, Tony.

    Excalibur battery "on" time

My new Excalibur battery gives me about 9 hours detecting time. It's only on it's second recharge so am I correct in assuming the "on" time will increase as the battery is "broken in" with more recharges. I charge the battery on an electrical timer for 15 hours max after hearing the first of...

    Excal...bead of water ??

At the headphone end and behind the black plastic end cap, is it normal for there to be a bead of water that kind of follows the outside rim as you turn the body of the detector ? The photo sort of shows where the water is.....the amount is reducing as time goes by....does it drain through one...

    Excalibur mounting bracket

Can someone please tell me how wide the actual detector body's mounting points are...this is the area where the upper shaft fits between. Can a 25mm upper shaft fit between the plastic mounts or is really rigid and only suits the 22mm upper shaft ?? Thanks for any help, Tony.

    Excalibur (main body) mounting bracket

Can someone please tell me how wide the actual detector body's mounting points are...this is the area where the upper shaft fits between. Can a 25mm upper shaft fit between the plastic mounts or is really rigid and only suits the 22mm upper shaft ?? Thanks for any help, Tony.

I guess this is a good sign ?

Found this medallion in the water within 30 seconds of detecting. Yes....I thought long and hard about the meaning of all this, especially as I am an "Anthony"......very unusual. The photo shows both sides at once. Tony.

To Max (when you've finished the turkey)

Max....your shaft experiment...was that with a fibreglass rake handle for the main shaft. I'm trying to build something for an Excalibur but want to be able to still shaft mount the main detector body. I'll look through some of your posts....I think I recall it was for your "Surfasplorer" ...

Reg......any ideas on this one ??

Reg...How are things ?? Do you know how well Eric's Goldscan 5 might perform (Ground Balance) on those stones I sent you earlier this year. I'm really interested to know how well it can cope on ground like that. I know that it troubles the Minelab PI's.. There hasn't been much posted on the...

Eric.....best setting for the big gold rings ??

Eric....this question is for when you get back from your holidays so I'm not expecting an answer right away !!! If I'm after the bigger/heavier gold and platinum rings (typically 18ct for the gold), will a slower pulse delay help me find them deeper? Normally I will set up my Goldquest at 10uS...

    Great to be back online........

Well after some months of having no computer, I am back online with a new computer.....salesman told me that if NASA has a problem then mission control could launch future space expeditions on my computer...hey, sounded good to me! Yep, still swinging the original Goldquest SS (modded for...

    Sov / WOT combo

For those that have the Sov/WOT combo and you use it on the beach, what is a realistic depth gain from the 10" Tornado coil. I know surface coverage is one advantage, but the depth advantage issue doesn't seem to be consistent across users. From what I have read, depth increase claims vary from...

    Setting the Settings (Sov GT)

I hunt exclusively in DISC on the beach. It makes sense to me to adjust the THRESHOLD and SENSITIVITY in the DISC setting. I thought I read somewehere that adjustments should be made in ALL METAL and then switch over to DISC. Any thoughts on this matter.... :help Always grateful for info...
