    Army badge today

Went wading for a couple of hours this morning. Best of it was a U.S Army combat medic badge. This one is a long way from home here in Australia! HH

    Summer time gold

Went early this morning to a swimming area on the river to cool off. Naturally I took my Excal and went wading. I picked up just over $5.00 in modern coin, an old 1950 halfpenny, what looks like a home made silver ring and a nice 9ct wedding band. Also found what looked like an old gold platted...

    Dry sand detecting question

Hi, I currently use a Excall ii and an E Trac, I am considering selling my E Trac and getting a CTX for beach and park detecting and keep the Excal for SCUBA diving. I have read a couple of posts that the CTX will sometimes have trouble finding a coin on the surface that has just been dug or...

    Summer time cash

I love hitting the beach at this time of year, and I love having $1 and $2 coins! Got out for a couple of hours this morning, no bling but just over $30 in my pocket :clapping: HH

    Another dive, another dollar

Went back to where I found the gold ring the other day, no gold today but I did manage a 1926 penny, a few dollars and a small charm. HH

    Religious medallion?

I found this medallion while wading in a local river. It is about the size of a US half dollar. I am finding it difficult finding anything on the net relating to the writing on the back, not sure if it is from a prayer or not? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ;-)

    Another dive, another ring

Went to another swimming area today, working in about 2,5 metres of water, the first target recovered was a ring, unfortunately it is an old brass one. I did manage $4.75 in coins though. HH

Took Excal for a dive today

With the weather and water warming up, I went for a dive this morning to a spot I had been wanting to try with my Excalibur. Managed $4.60 in coins, a nice big silver ring and a tiny 10k white gold ear stud with a diamond. The stud was just luck as it was in the same hole as one of the coins...

    Lots of keys!

Went back to the river this morning with the Excal to where I found the gold "lord of the rings" ring. Best of it was $7.00 and a silver zodiac pendent which has seen better days. Lots of keys today though, would have to be the most I have found on one hunt. HH

One ring to rule them all

I went wading with the Excal in the river yesterday morning before work at a spot that has turned up a few coins and a small silver toe ring recently. So I was keen to see what a new hunt would turn up. After a few small coins, pull tabs and bottle caps, I got a nice tone, looked in my scoop and...

    Queen Victoria and some silver

Went to a park this morning that has given up some nice coins in the past. Their numbers are getting fewer but there are still some to be found. First coin was a 1892 English penny, then a 1910 shilling and a 1917 halfpenny. HH Raven

    First gold for summer

It,s finally summer down here in the southern hemisphere :clapping: I headed down the beach with my Excal, and despite having had some cool weather and rain last week I picked up a bit over $7.00 in coins. I was making my way along the dry sand when I got a nice low tone and expecting to see a...

    Saturday silver

Went out early this morning to a park I have been working for the last few weekends. Dug a couple of pennies, the 1917 is badly corroded. Thought I had another penny, but turned out to be a florin  and found A silver cufflink, which I was happy with. Also picked up $8.00 in modern coin. A...

Some more silver from the park

Went to the same park as yesterday for a couple of hours early this morning. Found a half penny almost right away then a small spill of a penny and a thrupence. picked up a few modern dollars another crusty old penny then got an iffy signal that sound like it was worth digging but was reading...

    Mixed bag this morning

Went out this morning to a new park. First target was an old penny, so off to a good start. Found a few one and two cent coins and some more old pennies. Dug two rings, first was a cheap "lord of the rings" ring, the second a nice silver with a green stone in it. A nice new $2.00 coin was a...

Some pennies, silver and an old lock

Went out for an early swing this morning to a park that has been producing a few old coins. Most of the coins were pretty deep, 8-9 inches (sandy soil). I thought I had another penny when the lock surfaced from about 6 inches. It has the markings "BBB" on both sides. I looked on the net and...

Anyone diving with a shark shield?

I hunt in a river that is know to have Bull sharks in it. I have never seen one in hundreds of recreational dives but when using the detector on the bottom I feel a little vulnerable, so was thinking about getting a shark shield to wear while hunting. The only thing I was wondering was if the...

    Some weekend silver

I got up early yesterday morning to a cold winters day and headed of to a park I have been going to recently which has produced a couple of silvers. Took a little while to find the first silver, then found the rest around the base of a big old tree. Another while without a good find, until my...
