Been wanting to do this for a long time!

I have been wanting to do something cool with some of my finds for a long time. I was looking at my silver coin finds and saw these two Mercs that were in really good shape. I then noticed they were both dated 1944. I had these made for me and my girlfriend. She really likes it and so do I.

    Strange Silver in South Alabama

You never know what you will find. We got back out today for a few hours today, after hitting the four silver yesterday we had the fever. I got this at about five inches. Knew it was silver but had no idea what it was til I got it cleaned up. Dated 1874, makes it my oldest coin yet.

    Good weather, Good hunt.

The weather was great here yesterday so SquatMonkey and I got out for about five hours to a house built back in the 40's that I had gotten permission to hunt. It seemed to have been hunted before because there was not much in the way of clad at at all. We still managed to squeak out four...

Day 2, One Silver Quarter and 20 Wheats

Well we went back to the house from yesterday. Got another Washington Quarter, 1945. It was a weird yard. We dug 56 memorials and 20 wheats today. Both days no silver deeper than 3 inches. Dug memorials at six inches. Between the two days we dug 109 memorials, 33 wheats and the five silvers...

    Best Silver day yet!!!!

Well we got out early today. Had permission to hunt two different yards. The first house was built in the 30's. Signals were few and far between and garbage. Looked like it would be an awesome place but just did not have any luck there. Went to the second place and got off to a slow start. We...

    Found my second watch fob.

We got out for a couple of hours this morning and hunted a vacant lot not far from where I found the Barber dime yesterday. I only got one decent target today. I found my second watch fob since I started detecting. It says Baseball Magazine on the front, and The Baseball Magazine Co., Boston...

Got a two fer today....Barber dime and broke 1800's

SquatMonkey and I got permission from a really nice guy here in our hometown to hunt his yard. The house dates from the 1940's. We were hunting it hard, there were a LOT of modern penny signals all over the yard. We were about two hours into it when I got a 12-44 - 12-45 at six inches in the...

    Pinpointer question?

I see a lot of guys in the videos using inline pinpointers like the sunray. I currently use a Garrett pro-pointer. Have any of you used both and if so which do you prefer? Which is deeper?

Big Silver and ...wait for it...Indians!!!!

SquatMonkey and I got out to an old house today in between the rain and got in about four and a half hours. My third target was a 12-44 signal at two inches which turned out to be a Walking Liberty Half of the 1943 Vintage. About thirty minutes later I got my Holy Grail not once but twice...

    She got me again.

Well we got out again today for several hours. All I can say is SquatMonkey is on fire. On about her fourth or fifth target with her AT Pro she got for Christmas she called me over and wanted me to run her target with the Etrac. I told her it sounds like a quarter at six inches. She kept...

    Indian Head pennies????

What numbers are you guys and gals seeing for these in the ground. I hunted a site yesterday where the possibility of finding them exists and dug a lot of targets but the Indian Head still eludes me. What numbers are you seeing mostly with these?

    Good day detecting.

Me and the wife got out yesterday for about four and half hours. We hunted an old school yard from the 1940"s. I was using my Etrac and she used her AT pro. The site was large and had a fair amount of trash. I managed to pull five wheats and a religous medallion made of copper. She got the only...

    Day Two, Silver again!!!

Me and Squatmonkey went back to work on the sidewalk strips again today. We hit it for a good four hours. I got another silver dime. This time it was a 1952 Roosevelt. It is the first silver coin I have found that was not a Merc. Squatmonkey got a sterling silver Avon ring with a stone in it...

    Got out today, got silver!!!

Me and squatmonkey got out today. It was a nice day. Temp around sixty-two and sunny, very nice in Alabama in January. We worked a strip of sidewalk on a side street near an old school. It was a dime day for me. I dug one more modern penny than I did modern dime. The good stuff for today was a...

    Metal detecting vacation, need help.

Me and my wife usually take a week vacation in the fall to go to a Jets game. This year they are not playing anywhere close so we decided to take a week long detecting vacation. We live in deep south Alabama and there is just not a lot of places to hunt where we live. We have access to a time...

Old and Silver coins in the deep south?

I started out hunting with an ACE 250 back in August. I logged probably well over a hundred hours with it and I recently purchased and ETRAC. I have now had an opportunity to hunt several parks, old schools and at least three old houses that date from 1905 to the 1940's. I have only found one...

Got out for several hours today, got a silver!!

My wife and I got out to an older park that dates to the late forties today. We found a little clad and I got a 1959 Wheatie, which was in good shape for our area. I also got a very worn Mercury dime, date 192x?. My wife got the find of the day though. She dug a 1963 George Wallace inauguaral...

    Holes in coins

Why are there so many coins that show up with holes in them? Did that many people make necklaces out of them? If so, I guess from the number recovered from metal detectorist that putting a coin on a necklace is just not a good idea. I had thought of making a couple of necklaces from Merc Dimes...

More questions for experienced ETRAC users.

Hey guys, me again. I got out with the Etrac for the second time today for about an hour and a half before the rain started. So far I have dug three memorial pennies and assorted metal garbage. I am getting a little more used to all the sounds it makes but I have a couple of questions. I...

    New Etrac user.

I have had an ACE250 since the end of August. My wife and I have gotten so addicted to the MD thing we decided we needed another detector and went with the ETRAC. I got it assembled last night and did some air testing. I am gonna tweak it some this afternoon and can not wait to get out and try...
