Can someone please tell me what the weight of the Excal II 10 " search coil ?

My scales say that with the coil cover the coil weighs 1 lb 9 oz. Weighed one that got damaged years ago. Lost concentration and hit a rock. Cost me dearly as I had to send the machine back twice to get the actual problem repaired. Of course the repair facility charged me for repairing an...

What head light do you use for night hunting on beach

Be careful using a light on beaches at night. When turtles are nesting a lot of the beaches do not allow a light of any kind. Some areas have some stiff fines for having lights on the beach. Lights confuse the hatchlings.

Will we ever see a light weight CTX ?

Does any of the Metal Detector Manufacturers listen to their customers?? There are some outstanding suggestions around for just about any detector made but you still see the same mistakes made over and over. I find a Straight shaft on the Xcal to be a vast improvement but Minelab insists on...

    Precious Metal in Walls

If the walls are sheetrock then someone would have had to cut openings to insert the meta. Unless a professional did the sheetrock work then you just might be able to see where the walls were cut and then repaired.

    Live .50 round found!

That round is not nearly as dangerous as people seem to believe. Without a Barrell to contain the expanding gas from the powder and push the bulled down the barrel. The most that will happen is that the brass case will get pushed a few feet at most. The bullet will not move due to the weight...

    Who will acquire Whites ?

I doubt that anyone will be willing to make the investment that it will take to bring Whites back. Whites has died because of the lack of new technology that most folks today are demanding.

    Live .50 round found!

Local beach after a re-nourishment was littered with them. Pumped them onto the beach from offshore when they were replacing the sand that had washed away. The ones I found were all AP.

Is there any thing modern that compares to the SOV

I hunt the beaches with the Excal II. However with my lousy hearing I am not usually able to decide what the machine is telling me. So if it does not disc out I dig it. Its always a nice surprise when on the rare occasion a piece of yellow comes out of the sand.

    Really Bummed Out

My brother had to have the rotary cuff surgery. He said that the secret to the cure was the work after surgery. Physical therapy is a must if you want full recovery. It does take time but PT is the secret. He said he wondered why he put the surgery off.

    Equipment Recommendations

If I were in the market for an all around machine, Dirt, Beach, Water etc I would give very serious consideration to the Minelab Equinox

Is there any thing modern that compares to the SOV

I am a Sovereign GT user. And like most folks I always wonder if there is something on the market that is enough better to justify the cost. I gave serious consideration to the Equinox. However in talking to people who have used both I have not run across anyone who will tell me that the...

I Have Questions - What Is Your Detecting Music Edition

None. Because I am concentrating on what my machine is telling me. If I was singing I would not hear half of what it was saying.

I Have Questions - WD-40 For Coil to Control Box Connector Edition

WD-40 tends to dry out over time and become gummy. I would use a silicon spray if anything.

Sprung for a Garrett (carrot) pin pointer

I have been using the carrot for about 4 years with no problems. I like being able to vary the sensitivity.

This old dog can still hunt!

I started about 8 years ago with the GT. The longer I use it the better we get along. It is a coin finding machine and once in a blue moon it will find a piece of jewelry other than silver. The Sovereigns will finds the goods.
