Went out today - Couple of Indians:cool:

Went out to my Barber site, no Barbers to be had. Did get a couple of Indians though. Tried a new cleaning method today - mixed results:unsure: The 1894 is about f-vf, and the 1897 is xf-xf+. Almost 4 miles in the hills today, lost lots of calories. Had a couple of readings side by side that...

    Question about age????

Just wondering how old everyone who detects is?. What year you started, and how long you have been detecting. No cheating on the age ladies:biggrin: I started around 1972 at age 11 and have been doing it since. Now 46, I plan on detecting until I get lost or they take me away to the funny...

Barber territory, but NONE for me!!!

Went out today with a buddy I sometimes travel with to my Barber place. I got a bullet hit, 1940 Wheat. That was it for most of the 6 hour hunt. He hit at the very end and got the Barber. a 1911 dime and a Buffalo nickle. I just found the 1901 Indian on the way out. Not a great day, but someone...

My Favorite Half Cent PCGS Wouldn't Slab:thumbdown:

Here's a picture of my favorite half cent that PCGS would not slab. Sent 8 coins in to slab and only the 1920 Mercury (AU 55) and a 1848 Half Dime (XF 40) would come back slabbed. The rest were either environmental damage or cleaned (HA, with water only). If they are not sure about the coins...

    Couldn't resist detecting today

Went to my usual mountainous place I find Barbers at. Always Indians, V's and Barbers, rarely Wheats, and Mercurys. It's hard walking in the snow, up and down hills (some trap rock). Have fallen a couple of times:ranting: Did 3.75 miles. This place is drying out and not much more was found...

Hunted this Saturday, Next Saturday too?

Not much this Saturday at my favorite site, but loved getting out. Not too cold, about 35-40. A worn out 1918S mercury along with 46 cents modern change. A nice skeleton key and the item on the left is a hair pin. Women wore these in their hair around the turn of the century. Usually they are in...

    Opinions on new explorer???

Hi, Used to have a minelab EXII, but never got the hang of it. I know they are great machines and am sure if I had heard of this forum when I had it, I probably would have kept it. Was wondering if the new one is better than the II was? Also if anyone has tried any 5" coil with it. Also any...

    Here's another of my favorite's

Here's another one of my better condition finds. It's not a rare coin (some around here are even disappointed that it's a common British) but it made my day!! Found on 09-28-05 at a hammered site on the rim next to lots of iron. Some great finds posted by fellow hunters recently. Gets me antsy...

    Old finds - let's post some?:buds:

Haven't anything better to do so I was hoping we can all post some of your past finds to pass the winter. I'd love to see some of the things I never find, (gold rings, gold nuggets, privy finds, etc..) Doesn't matter if its a pinetree shilling or a extra fine war nickle. Let's share some...

    Saturday's Hunt

Was having a bad day of detecting all day Saturday. Nothing but shotgun shells and 22's everywhere. Only had 3 coin signals all day and they turned out to be 2 ox knobs and a grommet. Finally hit a rotted out flat button and finally this Mass (post Revolution) button. In Albert's Button book its...

    More finds from 2007

Thought with the snow approaching, my detector days are limited. Just wanted to start posting some of my better finds for 2007. Hope everyone posts some of theirs so that the winter goes by quicker. I always get energized when I see someone else's finds. Dig out those old coins or other...

    Todays colonial hunt:cam:

Hi everyone, Went out today and the weather was great, but my DFX bit the dust! The display went blank, but the machine still worked. Took me a while to figure out how to load the right program with no screen!!! Got 3 large buttons (2 octagonal), 3 smaller buttons, a small musket ball, a clip on...

    Compass depth doubler

Hi, Anyone ever use a compass depth doubler. I bought one and wondered if anyone has ever tested it to see if it gets more depth for our regular detectors? Would love to find out who engineered those units. Thanks!! George

Hi, Anyone know where I can get a schematic for an old Bounty Hunter Outlaw (blue) metal detector? Also looking for one on a White's Eagle Spectrum. Anybody ever find out where to get these?? Thanks - George

    Old bounty hunter outlaw

Hi, Recently picked up an old (blue) Bounty Hunter Outlaw like the one I used to have many years ago. Does anyone know if and where I can pick up the schematics for one? Would the company release them after so many years? Any help would be appreciated in finding an old schematics on White's...

    Garmin 76Csx

Hi, Have been using my Garmin for about a year now and wonder if anyone has experienced this problem with any high end GPS. Under a fairly heavy canopy, I notice that my built in compass has a very difficult time telling me north. I have went in and calibrated it and it has not helped. If I look...

    DFX all metal program anyone?

Just looking to see if anyone has stumbled on to a good program for the dfx using a small coil in all metal mode (or mixed mode). I can't seem to get one to work deep for me with great separation. And I'm not at all good with the mixed mode. Any where I can visit to get lessons or instructions...
