Should be an all day hunt.

First hour and a half tests this morning revealed...

It has some decent potential. I have some coins buried in our dry soil and a dime about 8" deep. Which back east is not a big deal but here...it is tough to get that deep...the F5 could not see the 8" dime.....my GMT 1650 did not nor did my Eagle II...but the F70 hit it no problem and in all the...

Full F70 field test and report starting tonight....

Well after thinking about it...and the fact that I need an ID machine for aghgost town hunt Sunday...I went and picked up an F70 at Cabelas just now. Before you think I am insane...Yes..Yes I am.....but that has nothing to do with it. First off I am not keeping it. Cabelas has a lifetime no...

    Well time to go...

It seems that since I did not give a glowing report on the F5 I am just going to get slammed for it...heree and there and in emails and such. Hey guys...mine did not work....maybe it was just mine....could be....and lets hope it was. I have detected for 30 years and have used most models put...

Took the F5 out today for a hunt....ended up taking it back to Cabelas after using it for a day...Saw an F70 while I was there!!

Well first off the F5 is gone....shortest ownership record for me...48 hours. Basically it suffers from the same interference issues as the first T2's ....accept 10 times worse....seriously. I could not run the gain above 3 without a constant 1HZ pulsing beep. Tried alternate...

If at first you can't find the answer....read the dang box (F5)

The stock coil is a concentric coil.....says so on the box. Other coils are available...again need to see which machines of theirs run at 7.8KHZ> It also states that the GB range goes all the way down into the SALT range. SO one would assume it has a remote chance of working on a beach..not...

    F5 manual first 6 images

this might work..and might not...lets see.

    Control panel photo

Probably not much more in this pic than can be seen with the press release but here it is anyway. You can see the phaes it at 30something simply because the coil is in the air...it will just bounce around if it is not on the ground. Gb defaults to 82 when you turn it on and the D5 center display...

    Air tests and coil dimensions

the coil measures 5 1/4 wide by 9 3/4 long...nothing in the manual states if it is concentric or DD that I have found so far. Someone asked for air tests so here are some common targets. Gain was set at 7 on a scale of 1-10....never have been able to detect at full gain...and above 7 it is too...

The first F5 to be shipped has landed in my hot little hands...

thenUPS did not show up until 1/2 hour ago....was getting concerned. Now I just assembled it, powered it up for a few minutes and need to read the manual and test it out side and on some coins so I don't have much to say. I will say this though, preliminarily it looks great. The pots they used...

WIll have a Fisher F5 from Cabellas here tomorrow.....better not be one thing wrong with this one.....again...

I must admit I do not have much faith in First Texas....which would be odd since I decided to order one of the few F-5's in the country. However I owned one of the very first T-2's and one of the first few F-75's. I ran them through the grind and was sad to see both were plagued with serious...

Got some software bugs with mine...or I again have a bad brand new machine from FT

After having all the problems with the first two T2's I owned I am rather upset with some furtehr problems with FT machines. Now either these are software bugs or my machine is defective...neither is a good diagnosis. First issue is that I cannot make any noticeable change in the sensitivity...

    Detech..Sunray...Coiltech..large coils...

I have a field.................................as the story goes. It has been one of those gold mines that you hear about....the rare kinda fields.....the ones that give up MANY colonial coins and relics....and I am talking about....a tton of coins...relatively speaking. We have hammered it to...

I would like to see a couple air tests posted...

I had one of the first series T2's and also the newest version and also have talked to alot of T2 users along the way. There seems to be some differences in T2's as production went along. now I am not starting anything and if as many people that can would post I would like to see how the T2's...

X-terra 50 breaks it's own oldest coin record in just over a week...

Last week I found a nice 1697 William and Mary Regal Irish farthing. Well hit a different field today that has been pounded by Explorers before...and landed a 1693 William and MAry...and also was w Regal irish variety. Obverse was shot but reverse was in decent shape for a 313 year old...

X-50 ties my oldest coin find to date...well actually..

Since this one actually has a date it IS my oldest. A 1697 William and Mary half pence. This is the regal Irish variety. Plus it was next to a huge chunk of iron. i had just finished ofr the day and was happy as I had found 2 coronet large cents but they were so cruddy no dates could be...

How about proof of what the X-terra 50 can do in the hands of someone who can use it..

25 years of detecting and I still like new machines. The 50 is a nice machine. i have no problems on shallow coins but then again I am not after clad. These two bust dimes came out of a pounded field that I have slammed for 5 years. Not sure how they were not found....I have used every machine...
