Ancient Roman Coins

Steelball

New member
Hello all. Looking for some advice on best way to clean ancient coins. I’ve been soaking these coins that I believe to be Roman Coins in distilled water for about 3 weeks and they are improving slightly. Can anyone suggest a better way to clean without harming the coins? Thanks to all.

I would do electrolysis I have a video I posted in Metal Detecting with Matt from gone digging check it out

I'd try a good penetrating oil like kril oil.
For a few weeks before I'd try electrolysis.
I know I destroyed some coins.
Left them in the tank. Forgot about them actually.
If that's calcium. I'd look for safe ways to remove it.
Could call a museum and ask their process.
Good Luck
