Need help identifying this small horse shoe.

Found this about 6 in deep in the ground while metal detecting. Wondering how old it could be?

I also found one like yours- measures about an inch and a half from side to side and 2 inches from top to bottom.

Have you had any ideas?
 
That is a scotch bottom style of horse shoe that was developed for draft horses for various reasons from appearance to traction and cushioning on hard surfaces. The small size doesn't make much sense unless it was on a small pony or burro that was used to pull some kind of cart so the decoration idea could hold water. As far as age goes , it could be anyone's guess since different environmental factors would have the most influence on the amount of accretions.
