Deep Merc with MXT all pro

coinspader

Well-known member
I was cruising along with the MXT, I hadn't hit anything good for at least an hour when I got a little bump in my threshold, I stopped and X"d the spot, I got the same lift in the threshold in one direction and a barely audible high tone in the other direction, I was in coin mode with tone ID, I new it was a deepie so I dug a deep plug and was pleasantly surprised. 1943 Merc in good condition. Love the MXT : ) I was using the SEF 6x8 coil

I use the 6x8 almost all the time, goses deep and not to heavey. I have fround alot of silver with my MXT. I got a like new one in the box just for back up. My older one i got when they were first made. Someone said the new ones got a little more depth. I haven't tryed it yet but i think i will take it out and try and see for my self. Have any of you tryed a newer MXT over a older one. Not the MXT Pro, just the MXT.

Love the MXT, I think i am going to put the 9.5" coil back on my MXT and go back over where i been with the 6x8"" coil. On anouther forum someone said the 9.5" coil gose 1.5" or 2" deeper than the 6x8". Has anyone found a coil that is not much heaver than the 9.5 and is deeper? Marry Christmas to all , flintstone.

Thanks coinspader, my soil is very good no black sand or iron. I am going to try my 9.5" coil, I have a 13" coil, but can't use it long till my back is killing me. I have a broken back and that holds me down alot. Back in NOV. i ran the vack, in my car and was down for that mouth. I just need to take it slow, I am not that old just 73, so i keep going. thanks flintstone

GA1dad, I have two MXTs, one i got new when they first came out, i am still useing it, but last i got a like one in the box from Crages list for $150.00. I am keeping it just incase my old one quits. But it just keeps going and going.

I've had both coils for the D2 and truthfully I didn't notice much difference in depth between the two of them, you might get a little more out of an 11 inch but in my opinion it's not worth what it would cost you to buy the additional coil unless you are looking to cover more ground faster, just my opinion : )

Yes. The 9" Ultimate DD is. It is really a beast and adds 2.5" more depth in mid soil conditions. Got my hands on one when Centreville Electronics NW offered a bargain.
I like this coil a lot as it feels very lightweight as it has the stems join in the middle of the coil and not close to the backend as the 950 has.
Merry Christmas to you, too.

Yes, the Detech 9" Ultimate is excellent on the MXT.
