Missing Tesoro Once Again!!!

Man I miss Tesoro!!!! I was reading a field test for the Eldorado on their archived website link that Oldkoot shared with me in a post recently. Thank you for that trip down memory lane Oldkoot. I have visited that web page multiple times since and read field tests and looked up product information. I recently read a field study about a guy using an Eldorado Umax with a 4” Concentric coil on it in trashy areas. I have the Eldorado Umax which I will never part with but now I want a 4” coil. I don’t know if anyone has one to sell but I put it on the wish list on the accessories forum here on fonall as a want to buy. I am sure it will be crickets chirping and silence as everyone who has Tesoro coils is holding onto them but I figured it is worth a shot. It is at times like these that I wish Tesoro was still in business. I own 5 Tesoro detectors and various coils but I want more, especially a 4” or 5.75”. I mainly hunt with Tesoro’s and have had great success. I wish the company was still open because the wish list keeps on growing and the gear keeps on getting pricier since they closed doors. I guess the saying still holds true about you don’t really fully appreciate what you got till it is gone. I will say this too. I don’t know if any of the Jack Gifford family reads any of the Tesoro related posts but I want to thank them for making some darn fine detectors that in my humble opinion and in my mind will never be outdated. Hunting with my Tesoro detectors always brings a smile to my face with their quiet discrimination, powerful searching capabilities, easy pinpointing and overall performance. Also you know if the Tesoro says it is down there, it is and it is right under the coil, no pinpoint button needed on the detector. I love swinging my knobs and switches Tesoro analog detectors and wish Tesoro was still around. HH.

I'm right there with ya. I own 2 Tesoros- and Multiple coils. I
will Never part with my Eldorado u- max or Silver sabre u-max.
The Eldo. u- max netted me my finest piece of micro jewelry ever. Just darn good units that WORK and so Simple to use...

Have you ever used a 7” concentric on the Eldorado Umax? I have the 7” Concentric and 7” wide scan coils. They both are really nice coils to use in combination with the Eldorado and Bandido. Now I am on the hunt for a 4” or 5.75” coil to use on my Eldorado and Bandido. I always think I have enough gear to be satisfied and use what I have but it always seems like there is another detector or accessory that needs just needs to be purchased. Congratulations on your micro jewelry find with the Eldorado Umax. Tesoros hit hard on jewelry and definitely on small jewelry. My two Compadres have found me some really good stuff. Good luck and HH.

That 7" coil is one I don't own. Your right though, there's always
something us Detector is t want to add to the Arsenal. I had 2
4" coils and let one go last year. I have sellers remorse but oh well. Wish you the Best my friend!!!

That Eldorado is a great detector. I bought a used one somdd red years ago while the company was still in business, and really liked it.
I later sold it only because I had a Vaquero that which replaced it.
I really like the controls on both of these models… both very easy and fun to use.
Never had the 7” coils, but had the 9x8 and 5.75” coil… both were great coils.
Like you, I was sad when Tesoro closed down.

Man I also wish Tesoro was still around - I was out for years (after surgery) and unloading detectors but now I am slowly getting back into detecting.
Found Tesoro & Whites is no more.
I at least held onto my Compadre, Silver uMax & Cortes. Never did use the Cortes but a couple times. I can kick myself for letting the Cibola, Varquero & Tejon go...
Kept one of the Whites (V3i) - not sure why, maybe the occasional swing.
Still have others but always told myself I'd never let the Compadre go and still feel the same now.

I love beep and dig detectors. They’re way underrated. The Tesoro’s are light and just plain work. The Fisher CZs are SMF and after decades are still some of the best. I am selling my 2 Tesoro’s only because I seldom use them . I may regret it later but I don’t need 12 detectors collecting dust. I’m keeping my simple 1212Xs (single knob like a compadre) because beep n digs are simple and enjoyable to use. I think those that have never used one would be surprised how much more fun they can be (and effective as well).

I saw you are selling a Cibola on the classified forum. My dad has one of those. That is the one Tesoro he has decided to keep. He loves the Cibola and has found some very good deep finds with it. He will not part with it. I did not see what other Tesoro you have up for sell. Do you have any coils with them besides the stick coil that you are wanting to sell? Hopefully you have other beep and dig detectors. I have one other detector besides my Tesoros and Teknetics T2 Classic Green. It is my only VDI machine. It is a good machine but gets little use. The Tesoros are my go to machines for the little bit of time I get to hunt. Good luck and HH.

Did you see Muddy Mo has a Cibola for sale in the classifieds? it is for a crazy good price. I would probably look into it myself but I am working on purchasing a Lobo.

I’m selling the Cibola because I need ground balance where I hunt. I know I could add it but again I don’t need so many detectors. The other is a Silver Saber I believe. I had to repair the case on it. I think I sold all the coils except a clean sweep. They’re selling for big $ on feepay. Yes I have 3 Fisher 1212Xs that are b&d and are like the compadre.

I understand needing the ground balance and that is the one area where the Cibola is lacking. I know that the clean sweep is selling for big money on feebay. I have never used it and really like my 7” coils and the 8x9 coil. If you get it in what I call the horseshoe on that coil it is always dead on no matter what the depth of the target. No pin pointer needed. Please let me know if you ever have a lapse in judgement and want to sell one of those 1212x’s. Ha ha just kidding.

The one thing that has stopped me from jumping on the Cibola that @MuddyMo has up for sale is because it does not have a ground balance knob, which is a necessity on the ground I detect

@Dirtdigger33 there is a person on another forum that you may want to check with to see if he may have a 4 inch coil for your Eldorado Umax he may also be a member on Finds also he goes by @mascard1 very good person to deal with

I myself am fairly new to the Beep and digs like Tesoro, Troy Shadow X5,X2 and X3 and Golden Mask Knob Jobs and I agree 100% with everything you have stated about the Tesoros I wish I would have started picking them up long ago i currently own two Tesoros the Vaquero and the Tejon also own a Troy Shadow X5 which I almost passed on but decided to take a chance on it and I am sure glad i did also own a Golden Mask Pro 4WD, if you have never had the opportunity to use a Golden Mask detector I will highly recommend the GM 4WD they are a fantastic beep and dig, I also own a Deep Tech Vista X which for me personally is my east favorite beep and Dig I own but having said that it is still a very capable beep and dig for me personally it is the most ergonomically uncomfortable beep and dig I own

as for coils every beep and dig I own I run small coils on Tejon and Vaquero I run the 5 3/4 inch concentric Shadow X5 I run the 7 inch concentric and the Vista X I run the 8 inch concentric the GM 4WD I run a 9.5 inch coil on what I have seen the Concentric coils just seem to perform the best on the Tesoros and the Shadow X5

I used to use a laser trident over here in the uk....it's the uk version of the cibola, virtually the same machine but with expanded discrimination.Had some great finds with it,simple deep and good on trashy sites......l pulled up a crotal bell with this machine from a ridiculous depth and found one of my best Roman coins with it.Lovely simple effective machines the Tesoro's.
