X-TERRA PRO WIRELESS HEADPHONES

The Coin Magician

Well-known member
The ML80 headphones's won't work with the x-terra pro. The only wireless headphones that will work will be Manticore Headphones ,& 700 , 900 Equinox phones, these cost a fortune just for wireless headphones for the x-terra pro.
The only wireless headphones that will work with the terra pro are the ML 85 and ML105. These headphones are not cheap and will not be far short in price of the detector it self. It's a case of that $269 DETECTOR costing $500 or thearabouts.
Minelab clawing money of people for ML85 and ML105 'S. There will be no cheap alternative headphones what i understand , the new headphones are "special" minelab headphones.

I'm hoping manufactures get making BT LE headphones and buds so someone can try them. After gong thru the 800EQ experience I'm waiting to see how the new Ginny pigs are treated. If M/L "chipped" these new detectors think I'll go deus or legend.

They are indeed "chipped" i can see many terra pro's been used with garrett z link.. Or some other wireless cheapo bolt on system.

Basically Minelab did a rotten job on us.

They do a rotten job on there carry bags too , bought a brand new minelab ctx carry bag just 3 months ago , already the zips are totally f*****d . Seriously i paid £50 for a bag that i am pretty sure cost
much less than £1 to manufacture. Made in china possibly for 50 pence of less. The profit margins are MASSIVE what these company's make.

I just got my Xterra pro today, plugged my detenix wireless transmitter in and they work great..Had to shave some of the plastic off the 1/4 to 1/8 adapter that came with them, but after that it fit right in the Xterra pro. I've used these detenix wireless with exery machine I've owned, and theres no lag

I ordered this travel carry bag for my wife's XTP: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08J1MTYX7?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
It's supposed to fit a Nox 600/800 so the XTP should fit with the shaft slightly shortened and the coil rotated 90 degrees and attached. Pretty decent ratings. $25. It should arrive Monday or Tuesday. There's hope😀

Took the Xterra pro out for a short run tonight, very short run ..First target was a sweet high tone, the pinpoint was off tho but I dug it wanting my first target. I thought maybe it was the big coil throwing the pinpoint off..Old square nail at 7 inches… Now, I wouldn’t dig another cause I know when the pinpoint is off it’s always a nail or iron…the big coil on this machine pinpoints good targets great so if it’s off it’s iron....But It was the only false signal I had tonight in a empty lot that a church burned down on over a 100 years ago..So it’s full of square nails.
I did get two memorials,3 pulltabs and a tractor badge of some sort.. i Tore this section up with a lot of good machines , so I was somewhat surprised. I started dropping my carrot in the hole, and the holes were swallowing the garrot carrot up. Xterra Pro in its stock setup is a depth monster, absolutely no question. I ran reactivity at 2, park 1, 5 tone, 19 sensativity,15 kHz…I started at 23 sensitivity when I dig the nail and backed it off to 19 and never had another false signal, and still dug some of the deepest targets I ever dug in that section ..Overall, with my limited time im wondering why guys are being so quick to move this machine out of they’re arsenal.

I just think everyone is just too wrapped up in the smf thing.

So it sounds like you are happy so far with it.

I too have experienced the iron not under the coil thing too when you go to pinpoint.

As far as I am concerned it does what it is supposed to do......it beeps over targets.

I was going to get an eq 11 inch coil for it as it seemed to calm the numbers down when I tried it out using the one off my eq900 but I decided against it because it defeats the whole purpose of a sub 300.00 unit.

If I had one gripe about it it would be that I wish the highest kHz was 20.

What Minelab screwed us. all to make a buck.
I can’t use my $$ ML80 on the new Xterra Pro. So there is another big expense.
they don’t even have a WM08 that I would prefer to use on the Xterra Pro.
So I have to go buy a Grrette product ( Z link ) to use on my Minelab detectors. Thats the only way I can go to wired earbuds.

What I have found on the 600/800 and Xterra Pro is if run the sensivity high the pinpointed is not accurate.
the only time I run it high is on fresh water beached.
I most of the time run mine around 16 and my pinpointer is right on.
The sensivity control is not a power control. It is controlling the amount the processor has to handle and at most times is getting too much.
lowering the sensitivity for me does affect my depth.
lowering it I get I get better pinpointing and better TID.
Do an air test and you will notice the depth is still good.
with higher sensivity you can get more chatter especially in salt water or in high EMS areas.
Also lowering it and you can detect areas other detectors only wish they could detect. And even closer to fences.

Not sure screw is correct word profiting yes. But Xterra Pro detector works without wireless - I am really thinking about buying one - eventually I will want wireless headphones and Minelab will profit from me when I do also.

For anyone wanting a cheap and effective wireless headphone setup, check out this aptx Bluetooth transmitter and aptx earbuds. I have been using them with my Deus 2 ws6 master and they work great! No noticeable lag. Only $45 total. I just use a little bit of Velcro to attach the transmitter to my detector shaft.

The ML85 headphones are now showing up at some dealers. Typical price is $109 - less expensive than our Nox 800 ML80 headphones at $149. A dealer in Maryland just received the ML85s. Expect to pay over $100 for ANY Bluetooth APTX LL headphones for any purpose.

Hi Deeper,
I would like to see your setup myself. It sounds like tyou have found a nice alternative to buying the ML 85 wireless headphones!

Gmccool,
Here is my setup. This particular transmitter is no longer available but there are inexpensive aptx low latency Bluetooth transmitters on amazon. Make sure they are aptx low latency.

Just plug the transmitter into the headphone jack and set it to transmit.

You will also need an aptx low latency earbud or headphone. I use the Aukey B80 earbud (i prefer buds).
