Raddiodity qt40 in one truck, president richard in my crane, cobra 200 in my bedroom, ranger 2950 in my wifes room. Two meter yaesu 2980 also in wifes room.

I was into it for awhile but license expired a little over a year ago. Guess ARRL didn't send me notice to renew and I just didn't around to it.
VHF & HF SSB & CW.
Kenwood 830S and Yaesu 1000MP were my main HF rigs along with a few more Yaesu's and ICOMs.
Several VHF (Mobile & Handhelds) and several little built rigs (last 2 built: QRP QCX rigs).

I realize that I do have a severe lack of knowledge about this subject. Sorry for the uninformed comments and questions I am about to ask.
Recent events have made me think about a radio. I think the information was for POC for long distance communication. Sounded to good to be true. The negative side was it required cell towers to transmit data. The monthly fee for the service was not disclosed in any clear terms.
I would guess that a hand held ham radio would require a repeater to retransmit the signal to reach a longer distance without the use of an outside antenna. Correct me if I’m not correct about that. Thanks in advance for your input.
Point me in the right direction for information.
