I got out today to my new permission. I had the best day I've ever had for Confederate relics. I found some different bullets today. Big three ringers. I think they're Georgia bullets.

I am healing good from my surgery and you finds are giving me the fever more than I already had. So hopefully I will be up at digging some relics in no time.
I hope you get better soon buddy and get out relic hunting.

Incredible finds!!!
What is the item that looks like a button?
Some of those bullets are huge indeed!!
I was told it's part of a button belt from the 1880s. I found it in with all of those bullets & a percussion cap was in the same hole lol. I don't really know.

Believe it is a New York militia button, number 30 in Albert’s book. Then again if it is larger than a coat button then could be along the sash buckle someone mentioned to you.

Seeing a different pic it is closer to #29. Tice’s book has listed quite a few with multiple variants bot pre and post CW. Great find is all that matters, congrats.

I was told it's part of this.
It does appear that it could be that, but the later date does not sense.
I do see what appears to have been four attachment points with only one intact.
I also notice two triangle tabs on the back that may have been attached to cloth or leather.
Interesting find what ever it is.
Is it the same size as a button?

Well I happen to have a few New York buttons so we can do the Pepsi challenge lol.

Yep.. same size as a regular button…👍
I guess the next question would be did they still make state buttons after the Civil War…. Or even around 1880?
It doesn't look as heavy. The attachment points are small.
