Deeptech Vista x vs Goldenmask 4extreme

Just wondering about these machines. Anyone used these two? What are your thoughts? Thanks everyone!
I do use the Deep Tech Vista X but have never used a Golden Mask 4Xtreme

I am planning on purchasing one of the New GM 4Xtreme detectors just have not done so yet, I do own and use two other Golden Mask detectors the GM7 and the GM 4WD along with the Vista X, I prefer the Golden Mask detectors more than the Vista X, I prefer the over all build quality and shaft system that Golden Mask puts on their detectors over the Deep Tech Vista X, for me personally the Vista X feels heavier than my two Golden Mask detectors, the Vista X for me personally is a bit uncomfortable to swing than the Golden Mask detectors also, that could be due to the shaft system that Deep Tech puts on their detectors also simply because I prefer a straight shaft on my detectors over a S Shaft

the GM7 and the 4WD as well as the Vista X all perform very close to the same with the Golden Mask detectors being a little deeper than the Vista X all three of those detectors I own Unmask Targets better than any other detector I own or have used, the recovery speed on all three is very quick also, I detect on some pretty mineralized ground and all three of the detectors I have mentioned perform very good on the ground I detect
contrary to what some may say about these beep and digs I love them and will continue to use them

The one thing I have no clue about is how well they would perform on a salt water beach scenario as I have no salt water beaches to test them on

as for the GM 4Xtreme according to Golden Mask the 4Xtreme is supposed to be some form of new Tech that their engineers have been working on for the past three years, the few videos I have seen of the 4Xtreme it looks like it will be another good Beep and Dig for me to add to my collection which as I stated I will be doing in the near future, as far as I know there are not many users of the 4Xtreme as of yet simply because it is a new detector in the Golden Mask Line up of detectors, Golden Mask is also saying it is not a VLF nor is it a Pulse Induction detector it is supposed to be something new as far as Tech, the operating frequency of the 4Xtreme is Pulse-Width-Modulation, also according to Golden Mask the 4Xtreme is supposed to be 30% deeper than the 4WD and the GM7 if that is actually the case that 4Xtreme is going to be one deep seeking detector because I have dug some extremely deep wild targets with my 4WD and GM7

Thanks for your reply, still on the fence but watching some of the vids on the xtreme looks good. I have used many different brands of detectors and the latest was a Manticore. Just haven't became one with it. I think around old house sites it would be ok but in the woods the extreme or vista may prevail .

Have you ever had your hands on a Golden Mask detector Chuck because I own 3 and all three perform rite there with the Vista X and as I stated in a lot of ways the Golden Mask detectors I own out perform the Vista X, I can not compare them to any of the other Deep Tech detectors but I can the one Deep Tech detector I own, do I like the Vista X (Absolutely) but I prefer my Golden Mask detectors over the Vista X.

if you have something useful to add to give the OP some insight then feel free but if you have never had a Golden Mask detector in your hands then all you are adding is nothing helpful at all so we are all waiting.

All of us on Finds know you are a Deep Tech Groupie, so take what Chuck has to say with a grain of salt when it comes to detectors he most likely has never held in his hands, much less ever even detected with one and most likely never will.

The one down side to the Golden Mask detectors is they have no U.S dealers at all, to get one you would have to order directly from Golden Mask which is in Bulgaria which is also where the Deep Tech Detectors are produced, Deep Tech does have a U.S dealer and that is the only upside to purchasing a deep Tech Detector over a Golden Mask Detector

Hey guys, not trying to start a fight. Was just looking people's ideas and experiences . Thanks for your insights! This forum has alway had great people that are always willing to help others. HH!

Not a fight at all

i do have issues when someone makes a comment on a brand of detector they have never used though and its not just chuck but anyone that makes comments on detectors they have never even used yes chuck can give you a great insight on the Deep Tech detectors he makes some amazing finds with his deep tech detectors, but the Golden Mask I do not believe he has ever even held one in his hands why because there are not many of us in the U.S that uses the Golden Mask Detectors I just happen to be one that does and also the deep Tech Vista X, I use several different brands of metal detectors, they all have their good points and all have their bad points, all have their own little quirks about them

I have the DeepTech Vista X and just received the GM 4Xtreme today. I got the 5"x7", 9.5", and 13"x11" coils. Seriously, they shipped it on Wednesday, and I received it today! Totally blew my mind, DHL is amazing. Anyways, I hope to get a few hours on it this weekend, so I'll follow up with my initial impressions early next week. I'm going to stick with the 9.5 coil until I get a handle on it. My hope is that it will complement the Vista X, which is an excellent detector. I'm not into comparing machines or finding the so called "best", I want to learn what this machine is best at...and use it for that purpose. I think of detectors like tools, each one does a specific thing very well. Use it for its intended purpose, and you will be rewarded.

The one thing I don't quite understand yet is the PWM "frequency". I mean, I know what PWM is, I just don't understand how its used on this detector. When reading the description on their website, its listed as "Multiple-Pulse Width Modulation technology" for the frequency. If you look at the coils listed for the 4Xtreme, they are listed as "multi-frequency". So, is the 4Xtreme an analog multi-frequency machine? Thats how I read it, but I do not know if that's true. Intriguing if it is! I really have no understanding of the inner working of metal detectors.

Upon unboxing, I like the build quality. Beautiful carbon fiber shaft with robust camlocks, smooth and firm potentiometers. I like the straight shaft and with the 9.5" coil it weighs about 2.5lbs, feels like you can swing it all day long. Plus, it comes with a control box cover so no worries if you get caught in the rain.

My only complaint is no headphone port. If you want to use headphones you have to order theirs. I got them and they look good and are comfortable, but I do not like that this is my only option. (Maybe they can be paired with something else?) I have the Garret z-lync (headphones and pinpointer) set up on my Vista X and love it. I would really like to have this option on the 4Xtreme.

We look forward to your reports on the 4Xtreme

that is the one thing i do not care for either is golden mask has limited your ability to use a different form of headphones by not putting a wired headphone jack on the 4Xtreme i do have the WS107 headphones already, but I would have still liked to have had a headphone jack on the 4Xtreme, I am planning on purchasing a 4Xtreme but just waiting for a few more reports on its performance before clicking that buy now button on the GM site.

I will also agree with you on the shipping Golden Mask uses to get their detectors into their customers hands, the quickest I have ever experienced when I ordered my 4WD and GM7 from them, 5 days from the day GM shipped my GM7 to delivery into my hands, the GM 4WD took a bit longer because it got hung up in Cincinnati Ohio even with the hang up in Cincinnati Ohio the 4WD was in my hands in 7 days I could not believe how fast they were both delivered to me in my hands, you cannot even get a letter delivered that fast within the borders of Arizona LOL

Again we look forward to your reports on the performance of the 4Xtreme, the Operating Frequency of PWM is the one thing I am also curious about

@Saker can you tell us where you are located so we can have some kind of an idea of the type of ground you will be using the 4Xtreme on

All companies that don’t use Bluetooth for their wireless are screwing their customers. There’s no reason other than to force customers to buy their products.
I totally agree the main reason I have not placed an order for the 4Xtreme is because of the lack of a headphone jack which prevents me from at least utilizing one of my wireless Bluetooth transmitters, I want one of those 4Xtreme's but honestly because of no headphone jack, the more I think about it not having a headphone jack, I will probably never purchase one of the 4Xtreme's, its ridiculous that Golden Mask didn't at the very least include a headphone jack in that detector

I sent this in an email to Golden Mask this morning, I am waiting on a response from them

My email below to Golden Mask

Hi can you tell me why there was not a headphone jack added to the Golden Mask 4Xtreme ???

I honestly feel that Golden Mask is limiting themselves on the number of sales they will make on this new Golden Mask 4Xtreme metal Detector, Like myself I want to purchase the 4Xtreme but because Golden Mask has failed by not having installed a wired headphone jack I will not be purchasing the 4Xtreme, I have chatted with a few other people that feel the same as I do, will you please bring this to the attention of your technical department and see if they would be willing to consider installing a simple wired headphone jack into the 4Xtreme Detector.

I truly believe if Golden Mask would install a wired headphone jack into the Golden Mask 4Xtreme they would most likely increase sales of this new Golden Mask 4Xtreme, the ability to plug in a simple wired set of headphones is not uncommon in this day and age on a metal detector, it is however quite uncommon to not have the ability to plug in a wired pair of headphones into a headphone jack on a Metal detector

I personally feel myself Golden mask is trying to force us metal detector users into purchasing your wireless headphones which I personally would never use, I do however use wired sets of headphones to detect with simply because you can hear the deeper targets under the coil with wired headphones, so please consider installing a simple wired headphone jack into the new Golden Mask 4Xtreme.

Thank you for reading and considering what I have stated

That sounds great! Getting one shipped here has had me worried somewhat. Hearing how well your worked out makes me feel some better. Keep us posted in how well it works. I like you don't understand the PMW stuff. I didn't realize there was no phone jack. Thanks for the info, and Happy Hunting!

Thanks for getting after GM. Should have a headphone jack. I would love to try one but the lack may push me towards the vesta. Be curious to see the reply.

Yes do give some thoughts on the GM 4xtreme after you have some time with it. Can you tell the difference between nickels and trash??? And how does it handle trash overall?? I am always interested in New Technology even if it is analog.

I'm in the Pittsburgh, PA area.

I really don't care if they're Bluetooth or proprietary. I just like having the option to plug in a wired set. I always keep a wired pair in the car as a backup. Other manufactures have proprietary wireless, but they also include a headphone jack. Not sure what GM's problem is here.

The headphone jack thing is weird but wasn't a deal breaker for me. I'm also not too crazy about detectors with internal li-ion batteries. They're nice and convenient but won't last forever. But again, the internal li-ion battery wasn't a deal breaker for me. A headphone jack and the ability to use AA batteries should be included on every detector by every manufacturer...period (kudos to Vista here).

The 4Xtreme really interests me so if it's fun to use and delivers results, I will be perfectly happy with it. If the headphone thing bothered me that much, then I just would have not bought it. I've been wanting a GM for a while so figured why not get their latest. I'll probably also pick up a 4WD at some point, it seems like a great detector too.

Hopefully I can get it out for a few hours this afternoon...

I agree on the headphone jack. The problem I have with proprietorial headphones is they’re over priced compared to many similar Bluetooth headphones and they don’t give you enough choices. I prefer earbuds. Especially when it’s hot outside.

As far as the battery situation the Golden Mask detectors I personally own all have an access door that can be removed and there batteries are easily changed out
