I was looking at the lost and found this morning and someone posted about losing a ring while playing softball at a local park last night.
I replied asking if anyone had responded yet and the owner said I was the first and only reply so far.
I grabbed my things and after getting a haircut and making a few stops, she called the number I provided just as I got to the park.
She told me it would most likely be in a small grass strip next to the ball field where she was warming up, in the area behind home base or the area around the pitcher's mound.
The diamond has already been raked and marked off when I got there, so I had to end up searching the entire diamond.
I did not find it and went to my truck to cool off and get snack and drink since it was about 90 degrees by then.
I then called to ask about where in the grass strip she was and she said she was to the left of a light pole.
I searched for about 20-30 minutes only finding a nickel and then got a nice 11/12 signal on the XTP.
The ring was very thin, so I thought this may be it...I took my pinpointer out and started looking through the grass and low and behold, there was the ring!
I called her and made arrangements to return it to her and she met me after work to get it.
It is 14k white gold and weighed only 1.6 grams.
I actually started losing hope after not finding it in that ball diamond and knew if I had to search in the grass, there would most likely be more trash to deal with, but luckily it all worked out!
I am sure glad I did not have to search that entire outfield for it in the heat!!
Thanks for looking!

Awesome job Felix!! See you can hunt in 90 degree heat as long as there is gold to be found :poke:

Excellent. Nice story. Curious.
Is that an old coin purse ?
I remember them well.
Oddly I've lost many in my youth.
Never found one detecting.
Ever find one full of silver.
It is, but not an old one… you can buy them online… never found one at all while detecting.
I still use cash and change and carry one to keep my coins together.

Muy bien!

Great job Felix! Acts like this helps the hobby. PS Years ago, I did find a similar change purse. It was green and had Little Orphan Annie on it. It was pre 1964 and had a silver quarter, two silver dimes, three wheats, and an old Jefferson nickel. I wish it could have been from a 100 years earlier.

That was a nice find!!!
Everytime I take out my change purse when paying for something, the clerk always makes a comment about it..I have given a few of them away.
The funny thing is one day I took it out and while sorting through the change, a young girl working the checkout saw a dollar coin mixed in and asked me what that was…😂🤣
It appears that people can’t hardly count change anymore at checkouts..

For as many made and years of them being made.
You'd think there'd be more in the ground.
Rarely do I hear of anyone finding them.
I know I lost a few. Slipped easily out of my pocket playing.

I'd go back and show her some Nice silver Dollars.
A little history and values would be fun to educate these kids today.
And she seemed interested.
Make make her a gold digger. 😊

I have found quite a few since they came out… my best is 14 in one year.
Mostly find them in school yards but sometimes one will show up at unexpected places.
I have only found one in the water.

My bad… I thought you were referring to dollar coins.. just realized you mean the coin purses… I have never found one of those.

Any of them loaded with silver ?
Mine were packed that I lost.
That's when I started detecting. 74.
Always had plenty of change.
