I live on the central Gulf coast of Florida and want to mainly beach and water hunt. What I would like is some opinions on which detector would serve me best, a Fisher CZ21 or Nokta Legend. I have both, recently picked up the CZ at an estate sale and having a hard time learning the Legend. Started detecting on and off since 1975 so most of my machines have been analog beep and dig, the Legend and its menus and sub menus are a struggle for me to learn. Thanks in advance for any help you may offer.
 
The CZs are great detectors. My only concern would be the seals and and a chance it needs recalibrating. There’s like 13(?) pots in it I believe. The legend once set up and programs saved should get easier to use especially the more you use it.
 
I have not used a Legend.
I like a CZ on the beach. The way I run one is all metal (auto tune) with a just audible threshold. Can either dig all so as to not miss any gold that might be there; or when over a target, flip to discriminate 0 and listen to help identify the target. Keep in mind that deep mid-tones can go low tone because of a deep weak signal. With time on the machine and listening to the characteristics of the response in all metal (called auto tune) one can learn to identify likely iron based on the response; much as one would with a pulse induction detector; in doubt, flip to disc 0 and listen to get more information about the target.

WOW CZ21 AND 20 are heavy like a brick ,but made great.Yep, I agree with you on curve of the legend.White water detectors use to be the better ones.:thumbup:.
 
I did get a belt clip because it is a chunk! Sure miss the White's detectors and some of the other brands no longer with us.

I had a belt clip and put the CZ 20 back on a straight shaft so I could flick the discrimination switch with my thumb from Auto tune to disc 0 and back.
If you keep in in one mode, the belt mount does make things easier to swing, in the water too.

Take your time some whites are still out there,check around even e-bay have had some .Check the internet they are still out there. :detecting: :thumbup:.

I like simplicity when beach/water hunting, especially when night hunting.
Have used CZ-20s since 1996, they are hard to walk by.
Impulse was on eBay, could not leave it there.
Both are in use on our beaches in Oz.

Recently been using and having great success with the legend. As a Minelab CTX and Manticore owner, the NOKTA stuff is really growing on me fast.
