Congrats. I'm not a CW bullet guy, but it sure has the right patina to it. What diameter is it if measured with calipers. That might help others make a better educated guess. Nice!

I don't think so, see the reeding in the grooves? That's indicative of a more modern bullet. The grooves themselves don't have the same orientation as a three ringer, I can't explain it, but pull up a pic of a three ringer and you'll see what I'm talking about. Finally, don't three ringers have a hollow base? As a wild guess I'd say a 45-70 rifle bullet. I could be completely wrong, I often am.
 
That is definitely a find that would make my day. A civil war bullet is on my list also. Being in Ohio we do not have the same opportunity as other states to find CW artifacts. Good luck with your search for CW finds. A big camp was in C bus during the CW much of the area was turned into housing and a section of that area is now a public park. Hope you can find your bucket listers.
