Beach hunting shoes

I prefer these that you can get at a dive shop.
Extremely light and waterproof past your ankles. Great for keeping out sand, shells etc out with the added hight.
Feels like you are barefoot with the added protection
thats a good choice for sure.. I've worn very similar boots for many many yrs now. they work well.

Yes I always go to a dive shop or Big five sporting goods and get some dive boots. Something that keeps the sand and rocks out while in the water. They last me a number of years so if I have to pay a few extra bucks for a shoes that will be there for me always pays off.

If you want to keep shells and most all the sand out, try O'neil super freak 2mm tropical surf booties/shoes. Have yet to find any "shoe" that performs anywhere near as good as them and you can still swim fine with them (try that with diving booties,, and yes I'm a diver also). Their only weakness is that if you walk alot on asphalt n rocks, the soles aren't all that thick, due to being made for surfboarding etc. I have a few pairs that I rotate in use and I use them hundreds of hours a season. One of the best gear "discoveries" I found several years ago, during the never ending search for somethings-gotta-be-better for footwear detecting.

I have been using Mares triboot 6.5 and the heels are failing. I looked at new ones and they are normally $124 - I don’t remember paying that much. I see them called triboot as well as trilastic - are these the same thing? Anything else a better choice?

I like these. Very good arch support, they keep the sand and shells out and hold up well.

Leather boots with spurs. Watch for snakes.

I bought a pair of Orvis wading shoes to use while detecting rivers, it has neoprene piece at the top, but sand does still get it.
I just wear a pair of socks with them and for me they work great.
Not sure how they would hold up to use in saltwater conditions, but they seem well made.
You could also get a pair of neoprene gravel guards to wear with them for additonal help in keeping sand and shells out of them.
