My hunt today was in area previously hunted by someone who didn’t fill their holes in. I don’t think one hole was filled in. There were lots of holes/

Good finds, those before you were to eager to get a quarter in the bag before those that detect as you do arrived.... Their only objective is to get home and post/show their great finds.. Someday they will learn or will just give up the hobby. (We Hope)
 
Now with school over, this could be kids doing this too.
I ran up on a similar situation some years ago right after Christmas.
I figured a kid got a detector as a present and took it out to try it.
It must not have suited him, because I never saw any more sign afterwards or since.
 
I saw the same in a soccer park I frequent. Nothing infuriates me more than seeing the real potential of losing a site to detect.
I've often wondered why detector mfg.'s never include instructions for proper target retrieval.
After all, their industry relies on the availability of locations to the end user. Once that dries up, so does their industry.
