X-Terra Pro software update 1.0

What does this new update address or add to the Xterra Pro? Thanks.
Per the release info, Continuous Noise cancel does repeating scans to find the best noise free channel to use for detecting. A regular noise cancel did 1 scan when you pushed the Accept/Reject button. Continuous Noise scan starts when the button is pressed and held down and continuously rescans until the button is released. I tried this out and watched as successive scan results displayed. The scan numbers were -1, 4, 5, 4 and 4 again. So, it appeared that the detector found better channels after the first scan and stabilized there. I believe this Continuous Noise Cancel is supposed to do a better job of finding the best noise free channel and thus more stable TDI numbers when detecting - no noise contributing to jumping TDI numbers. Again, just my take from reading their software update info and trying it out.
The update process was painless. Downloaded the X-Terra Pro update file. Connected the XTP to my PC with the charging cable, ran the Minelab update file, sat back and watched until it displayed QUIT in about 4 minutes. Done. Kudos to Minelab!

EMI, which can be a contributor to unstable/noisy Target ID (TID) readings. Typical EMI sources could be cell towers, cell phones, restaurant paging systems, alarm systems, electric fences, powerlines, even buried power cables, etc. to name a few. You get the idea. Ground conditions are caused by mineralization in the soil or sand. You should do both a noise cancel and a ground balance when starting out on a site and if you change frequencies/detect modes.

Yeah I do a noise cancel & a manual ground balance about every 20 minutes or so when I'm out detecting. The minelabs are new to me, as I retired all my Whites machines.

If that is all it does, I won't mess with it unless some actual user says it improves a single thing in finds.

I never run auto noise cancel on any machine.
 
FWIW, I took my wife's XTP outside, ran the CNC for several scan cycles then released the Accept/Reject button. With the coil on the ground (fairly mild ground with lawn), I turned the Sensitivity to max 25 and with the volume also turned up the XTP was almost dead silent. Just a very faint beep every once in a while if I listened carefully. Very stable, no bouncing numbers at all which might indicate the CNC has done its job. More testing to be done next time out in the field.
If I ran another CNC without exiting Settings, the CNC self-cancelled itself after 1 or more scan passes without releasing the Accept/Reject button. Probably because the detector has found the best channel???
 
I have been considered by some to be an elite person. Or was it illiterate? Anyway, I am getting an Elite. That's all I have to say about that.

Will do. Narrowed down to what I can afford. This should be all I need. Had the Manti and Deus 11. Had to sell to make ends meet. I will tell my Elite that he is the greatest device around. And he just might be.

No.
If you perform a noise cancel after each sweep to the right, and again each time to the left, every time, you might be close.
It's a lot like the tracking feature in that it can do it more often, faster, and more accurately on a continuous basis than you can even push the buttons.

OK, I did not realize it was "tracking" all the time. I thought you held the button until you got a repeating or close number. Maybe I am not understanding the update.

It added continously noise cancelation I believe. You can hold the noise cancel down & after the machine cycles a noise cancel # 3 times it will pick that channel for the most stable operation.
