    Silver is Going Crazy!!

Loving it! I've sold the majority of my gold over the years, and a lot of my silver, but my silver restocks much faster than my gold. I think my silver collection is in the lbs currently. I'll be using the old E-Trac a lot more.

Kids dipping into Dad's coin collection.

Years ago, I found a mint 1957 wheat back in a tot lot. I knew it had to come from some kid who stole it from their Dad's coin collection. Well, I found my second evidence. a 1945 Buffalo Nickel. Now, why can't they get some of Dad's gold coins LOL? I clean this tot lot often. This is a fresh...

    CTX 3030 compared to Manticore

I've had them both. Yes, I do like the Maniticore weight and design, but that doesn't make a difference in finding coins. I felt the CTX was every bit as deep, if not a tad bit deeper, than the Manticore. It really depends on what you're looking for. I've had the best of the best, and when it...

    CTX 3030 compared to Manticore

I think most detectorists have figured out that staged air tests have little relevance to in-the-wild hunting. It is the reason we find "missed" coins in places we have searched for many years. Conditions change.

In the voice of James Earl Jones, in the first few decades of the third millennium

My main, currently, is the Deus 2 with the 9" coil. My backup is a Deus 1 with a 9" HF coil, and a Minelab E-Trac. I tried all the top favorites, the NOX 800, Ledegend, and Manticore, and found them all to be very good machines. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses. I went with the Deus 2...

In the voice of James Earl Jones, in the first few decades of the third millennium

Looking back at my metal detecting adventures over the years, I have a time period that sticks out. The early 2000s to 2020. So I got wondering why. What made this time so special? We've all contemplated that question of how to improve our finds-to-time hunting ratio. Unless you're new to the...

    Xp Deus Charge clips

Just a suggestion. I had problems getting mine to charge correctly soon after I bought the Deus 2. I tried a new set of clips that worked, somewhat, at first, them back to the same problem. I started cleaning my contacts before charging and haven't had a problem since.

    D2 audio settings.

I'm liking the Full Tones 2. Seems to bring out the iron grunt so much clearer. I can hear the ever so slight bad in a pull tab.

    Whites "Flagship" Detector ?

I'm an old DFX fan, and I'd say V3i. The DFX/MXT were groundbreakers, but at the end, I'd say they fail to the V3i.

Some reflections on the current state of silver coin hunting

To be honest, I haven't had a major increase in finds, silver or not, since the White DFX was out. I am pretty much the only detectorist in my area, so competition isn't an issue. Yes, I had the CTX 3030, and all, including the Manticore. None made any major bump in recoveries since the DFX...

Is calabash testing the new xp icon ?

I believe TNSHARPSHOOTER is Calabash Digger. If you watch their videos, they're done by the same person.

He doesn't take criticism well. He's right, or you're wrong.

    Single frequency vs Multi frequency

For me, my lack of praise for SMF detectors is in the field use. I have owned them all from the 800, Legend, D2, which I still own, and the Manticore. I took each to hot spots where I had found many good items, and not a single missed keeper was found with any of them. I agree under certain...
